So is it set in 1941 Wales? Or is it Victorian England?

I'm so excited for this movie. I'm so tired of vampires, ghosts, zombies and torture porn. I'm hoping that this movie will bring horror back to where it belongs.

Y'know something Delta? That's a good way of looking at it. Especially because I'm so tired of remakes. This puts a good light on it

Yeah but good classic movies should be left alone, just another way of saying hollywood has ran out of ideas

Sequels, remakes, and movies based on TV shows.

Yeah I know...not good

Exactly. People have become numb to this crap that they're shoveling right now. All these ghost movies and SAWs and crap. It's not horror. It's gore. That's all. Even vampires, who were originally intended to be ghoulish beasts, have been pussified by movies like IwaV and Twilight(even though IwaV was a good movie). 30 Days of Night really served to help spin the needle back to where Vampires were meant to be.
I'm hoping that, since the reviews say that this movie is rated R and is legitimately scary, that this will bring horror back to where it belongs. Monsters.
And saying that Hollywood has "run out of ideas" is bullshit. Complete and utter. Stories are stories, and have been told and retold since the dawn of mankind. Just because they're retelling a story that was told only a couple decades ago doesn't mean their "imagination well" has gone dry.

I totally agree with you Delta. I'm tired of vampires and gore movies and the SAW series, which should've ended with the second one if at all. I want to see a good old fashioned "monster movie". You remember those? Classic horror for the 21st century. Something that has been long since lost, and I've seen the trailer for this and I have a strong feeling this will bring that back.
And another thing, the Wolf Man movie was made almost seventy years ago. That's a long time. Nowadays, most people think that a black and white movie is an eyesore. So for them to revive this classic, in color, with Rick (AWIL) Baker handling the effects, is something I can't wait to see. And if you think that should be left alone, then don't watch it. Plain and simple.

Yes. Exactly.
And for all you "Hollywood's imagination is dead" people, here you go:

That is so true man. Horror these days equals senseless gore, where the scary part is seeing someone tortured. It used to be more of an imagination thing, where scared ourselves imagining what was going on and what wasn't shown was scarier than what was at times.
Your last point is a good one too (and also one I didn't think of). I remember in English class we were told that Shakespere rewrote a lot of old stories, so not everything he wrote was totally original.
Anyways, I do like seeing something new instead of a remake, but if it's good then I suppose it doesn't matter how original it is.

Ummmm back to the movie. Nothing? Anyone reading Horror Hound or something? I ahve'nt been by the bookstore.

Confused now, are you complaining about too much blood & violence in horror movies or are you complaining about there not being enough blood & violence in horror movies?
Offline
I think the complaint was not enough horror in horror movies.
Meanwhile, as for the subject film, it appears some reshoots and maybe make-up tweaking are going on for "Wolf Man":

I'm just really doubting this movie. As soon as I heard who was starring I was doubting. Now if it's set in the same time period then that's different but if it's set in the here and now, .........

Ah well, I didn't follow US horror movies that closely in recent years because apart from 30 Nights they used to be all more or less inferior remakes of (great) Asian Horror movies where there is still a very close focus on horror rather than FX to be found.
But I agree, we didn't have a proper monster movie in ages now.

Doesn't look like a modern setting from the promotional shots we got to see so far that look in their style to be set in the same time frame as Coppola's Dracula.

You guys know there's a bootleg trailer on Youtube right? The trailer the Wolfman panel showed at one of the last SDCC?

What would be really helpful is if you included a link to said trailer We can find it for ourselves of course, but links are also handy and quick.
Is this it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvHN_GSYVo4

I haven't bothered to read the rules yet, so I wasn't sure if bootleg items were allowed.
But yes, that's it.

Cool. It's openly available on youtube, so I don't think that's a problem.

Well that's a strange mentality to take.
Del Toro and Weaving are amazing actors. As is Emily Blunt.

It looks pretty good! Now I'm excited instead of dreading it.
