JamieD- Yes, the movie was based on a book by Gary Bradner. The movie and book having differing plot lines. You can buy the book via amazon or e-bay.

Back to the topic, the movie has some elements from the novel. Many changes were made to accomdate the film budget. Some good and some bad - when you read the novel you can decide for yourself.

JamieD - In the novel, Karen is not a TV reporter. In the end, she and Chris (her friend) get away from the town. Before so, Karen encounters Marsha in wolf form and shoots her. Though presumed dead, Marsha is alive and well for the second novel.
