Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

Grayscales for the first 6 pages have just been completed.  The letterer is now transfering her work from the 'practice pencils' to the available pages and adding the logo to page 1.

The only complication thus far was our inker's computer's power supply dying. sad   However there's a contingency plan and the last 4 pages will be inked by Cadre if nessicary and then grayscaled and lettered.  We're a little behind but the slack is being picked up and we'll be proceeding with issue #2.

Future details to come...

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

Wow, Red -- this looks like a pretty cool read!  I apologize if I am coming in on the middle of something -- I only took in the first post, since I do not have time to read all three pages.

He-ho Red!  High five!

Cadre et al; will Isis and Bast be in the book?  They're cool women.

Would that be the Cadre Corner list I am already on?

Fuzzball, you are in the Cadre Corner Yahoo Group... which is a separate entity... the list this is regarding is strictly a mailing list for those interested in updated information regarding Cornerstone book and people's desire to order it when available.

Goddesses technically, and there's a definete possibility either could appear.  The various animal gods like Bast I am weighing individually.  Thus far I have considered Thoth - scribe of the Gods and a moon god as well, Sekhmet - a powerfully fierce lion goddess, and Wepwawet - a warlike wolf god who seems to have been Anubis' counterpart in guiding the dead - among others that are often excrutiating difficult to type let alone pronounce. sad  In some cases gods actually have multiple forms - Ra for instance was a god who could appear a a hawk/falcon, a scarab/beetle, a ram, as well as a human.

For non-animal deities Isis, goddess of magic, is prominent but I have given definete thought to her sister Nephthys, whom somewhat fittingly was Anubis' mother.  In the myth however she abandoned Anubis and it was Isis who reared Anubis.

Currently I already have one particularly important Goddess in a few scripts for Anubis.  If you want to guess who she is read into the "Book of the Dead", specifically the portion involving Anubis weighing the human heart - and as you can guess it is neither Isis, Nephthys, or Bast.

For the first issue it is going to be just Anubis as far as Egyptian deities go, but in his forthcoming Origin Trilogy and further issues more deities will appear.

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

Although not directly related to my comic here is some news I couldn't think would be better elsewhere to post:

Ebay Mummies

I am honestly not sure what my title character would think of this article himself, but I suspect a shake of a head and a groan would be involved... tongue

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

More, now directly comic-related, news.  Inker PJ, while have intermittent internet access, has managed to upload the full issue's worth of inks now.  My letterer Jen has also gotten the first 6 pages completed and my penciler & grayscaler Stephie is finalizing the last of the inks now that PJ's full work is available to use.

Hopefully the next announcement I add here will be on the completion of Anubis:Guardian of the Tomb! wink

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

411: PJ has resurfaced and the inks are complete.  Are being grayscaled and lettered as we speak... all is good in the world.

Cover to the Cornerstone book is pencilled and inked... on it's way to the colorist.

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

not starting out that I know of... just not enough financing in it yet... we'd like to get some ads in the book to help with some of the expense as well as open the door to larger ideas and avenues... we had one, but they came on hard times and had to back out.  The doors open for anyone to place an ad in the book... will have a minimum of 100 copies being dispersed around the nation to different contributors as well as will be available for direct sale through the Cadre Corner Site as well.  We are still gathing the mailing list all throughout production as well as afterwards for future issues.

If someone were to want their ad placed in the book... it would be $200 for a full page ad and #100 for a half page ad... which is to be supplied by purchaser.

Re: Anubis: Guardian Of The Tomb

For the villian character, Set, I will admit that I gained some inspiration from this particular episode of Disney's Kim Possible - when you watch the segment you'll see why:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWYy_4Q0RiY

Otherwise regarding the comic I'm trying to pull all the elements together - the grayscales and lettering are completed, the logo is being added in.  The fact my normal computer is being virtually rewired isn't helping in the matter but everything is still on schedule and the scripts for future issues are already prepared. smile
