thanks, I think I will try to make it moveable...
however, the silicone stuff I'm going to use for the skin between the two parts of the jaw, so it stretches instead of showing two distinct parts to the mask, is unpaintable. The only way I can color it is if I mix dye in with it, and that kinda limits my color options....
I experimented with the stuff and some brown dye, and got this color:
now, I can duplicate this color with the paint on the rest of the mask, but before I do that, does anyone think that's a good color for the mask to be?

Can you mix a few dyes together for a slightly more complicated shade? You can always use the brown as a base, then do fine hair highlight work over it.

Cool!
Over the rest of your head, painting it that brown. You might want to paint fur in those areas that are on the border of where you're going to put fake fur. And by painting fur, you have a brown base, you can do lighter lines to suggest fur.
I'm tired tonight... Taking a long time to explain stuff... sheesh.

heh...well, the thing is, my hair is pretty much a slightly darker shade of that exact color, and I haven't had a haircut in over a month... and it's a face-only mask so far....so if all else fails, by halloween I might not even need to put any fur on the thing.

A face-only mask?
So you're not going as a full-bodied werewolf, Howlitzer?
A shame because it would be like your werewolf drawing come to life.

I didn't say "face-only costume"...
I meant "face-only" in that the mask will only cover my face not my entire head...i might have stuff coming off of the mask (like ears) that partially cover my head at least, but I've had enough experience with over-the-head masks to know that:
1. They make me claustrophobic.
2. They are a pain in the butt.
that does not speak for the rest of the costume.

So very cool to see this as it develops!

I like that concept alot dude That's going to look sweet!
And yeah, full head masks are a pain in the butt AND there's always someplace where they bend, or cave in, that makes it look ridiculous..

I had a sweet over the head mask, but it was a little too big so my mom put a safety pin in it. Fit perfectly! Then some kid on the playground (I was in third grade, lol) ripped it off and I couldn't get the safety pin in right so it fit all retarded. Grr!

well, I've started to paint it a bit... keep in mind this is the first coat...
and...just because I haven't shown it yet....the inside of the mask...
it looks REALLY ghetto from the inside...because it is... the thing I rigged up for the chin so I can both open and clench the mouth, it's made out of a metal clothes hanger and rat wire...
kinda looks like a medieval torture device, doesnt it?

It's starting to look like your werewolf self now.
Yeah. The inside of the mask do look creepy but only the other people will see the outside and that is where it counts.
Offline
Looking cool. Are you going to do anything special with the "inside" part?
Offline
well, i did do a bit more work on the mask...added some details, painted the gums and teeth a bit better, did the inside of the mouth, and fixed the chin so it doesn't have metal visible...
and despite the appearance of the inside of the mask, it actually isn't the least bit uncomfortable. It's perfectly molded to my face...

Awesome, Howlitzer. You're starting to really look the way that I draw you except for the black hair.
I see that you're wearing out that Rubik's cube. You still haven't figured it out yet, have you?
