Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Beer Btych? Where? Oh, sorry, The BusBoy, right, we're supposed to talk about Man-Wolf in here....

So with all of the talk of Man-Wolf possibly showing up in "Spider-Man 3" or not...would any one of you want Man-Wolf to have his own movie like Werewolf By Night is having?

Hard to say.  Man-Wolf by himself probably wouldn't generate enough popularity from the NON-were community to put it one way. sad

I'd be happy enough seeing him with Spider-Man I think. smile

THAT might actually work...but can any of us stand a double-dose of our werewolf heroes? big_smile

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Werewolf by Night! should be an interesting Marvel film and is due out in 2005 or 2006, afterall Marvel has been doing good on the screen unlike Dolph Lundgren's old Punisher movie or Captain America or Howard The Duck ( Well maybe not Howard but did had it's moments).

Such marvel flicks like "Blade Trilogy", " X-Men series", "Spider-Man Series", "Hulk", "Daredevil" and " Punisher" ( the new one with John Travolta) have became hits, there should be faith for the new ones coming in 2005-2006 like "Werewolf by Night", " Deathlok", "Fantastic Four", " Black Widow", " Man-Thing", " Namor-Sub Mariner", " Elektra", " Iron Man", "Iron Fist", " X-Men 3", and some more.

Do you think WBN would be interesting to see on film? Stan Winston can do the make-up effects including of the usual CGI werewolves these days.

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Actually, back around 1980 the Man-Wolf was optioned for movie development.  Dino DeLaurentais was interested in adapting the Stargod storyline into a big budget picture.  But that fell through and Dino ended up doing Flash Gordon instead.  I'm guessing the rights to do a Man-Wolf movie eventually revereted back to Marvel

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Most likely.  A bit of a shame, but then again, I wasn't even born in 1980. smile

Hopefully the chance will come up again, and yeah, it'd be REAL great if Stargod was introduced too. wink

Probably as well. I saw that Flash Gordon movie and it wasn't that great.

Well, I'M willing to pay double for a Man-Wolf & Werewolf By Night movie!

Why not make him the enemy of Man-Wolf & Werewolf By Night for their movie? big_smile

That might make for some interesting possibilities.  Discounting the CapWolf saga, I don't think Werewolf by Night or Man-Wolf had any real crossovers or confrontations to my memory, and Man-Wolf as Stargod has had few encounters as it is.

Again, interesting possibilities. smile

Well, RedStreak...I don't think today's movie viewers have any knowledge of that CapWolf storyline or the origin of Man-Wolf, Werewolf By Night and the Stargod.

So why not have Johnny becoming Man-Wolf in "Spider-Man 3" then have him help Werewolf By Night fight the Stargod in WBN's movie!

The problem will be if the "Werewolf by Night" movie come out before "Spiderman 3"!

Hmm...why not have the characters meet BEFORE they both become werewolves and have to fight the Stargod together then Johnny would forget all about himself  being Man-Wolf until "Spider-man 3"?

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

I'm kinda curious why people hate the CapWolf storyline so much?  I actually enjoyed reading it myself because so many lupine characters were brought together and we got to see one legendary superhero turn furry for our own entertainment. smile

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

I didn't hate it. It just didn't seem to stack up to other stories I'd read. There seemed a lot of aimless rambling and humbling of Captain America (I also am getting pretty sick of DC putting their characters into situations they can't control over and over and over (How many times are these people going to be killed off?) and gratuitous bringing all the Marvel Werewolves together (I don't get into gratuitoius anymore).

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Hey, I liked seeing all of the Marvel werewolves getting together and being led by CapWolf!

That's something that DC have not done yet. (Can you imagine Superman as SuperWOLFman with Fang, Scratch, Tasmanian Devil and Beast Boy in wolf form in his Justice League of Werewolves?) big_smile

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Movies aside, I am cobbling together a new submission for "Fang, Claw, & Steel" now.

It's going to be a story about Stargod, or more specifically Stargod roughly 1,000 years in the past before he traveled to the Earth's moon and bonded with John Jameson.

I figured this would be a new perspective to do on Man-Wolf. big_smile

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

BlueEyes.......Superman as Werewolf? I don't know if the world would be ready for that yet. And anyway, why not have one of the real Werewolves as leader?

Hey, Captain America was a werewolf for a while! So why not Superman? I would love to see Lois Lane's reaction to SuperWOLFman!

Maybe Fang could be the leader but I doubt he could be good as Superman.

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

Regarding superman, I think there was an instance where DC made either him or Batman into a vampire.

I don't think Superman would be quite as good a werewolf as Captain America.  Something about a wolf in primary colors (red, blue, yellow) seems too cheesy. roll  CapWolf in red, white, and blue only pulled it off because they're patriotic colors! wink

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

I have no problems with turning Supes but....leader??!!? Naw. He's too much of a Boy Scout. Actually I once dreamed up a tell where several arche villains got together and dreamer but a gas that put all the superheroes in the watchtower (which was about half of them) into a coma and a passing-through Werewolf saved them by turning them. They, along with some already Were characters like Tigerman (Guy Gardner's buddy, Taz, and Vixen made up a special arm of the JLA which dealt with paranormal problems (Werewolves are immune to magic, y'know).

Re: Man-Wolf: The Forum

He's apparently going to be appearing in "Spider-Man and the Human Torch" #3 in March.  The story is a flashback to around the time of the first Man-Wolf story.  According to the artist the Man-Wolf will (probably) have at least a cameo in the issue.
