Re: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - by Stephenie Meyer

Alrighty then.  I just finished the book and here are some of my arguements.

For one thing, the first half of the book is all about falling in love with a vampire and blah blah blah!  WHERE'S THE PLOT!?!?!?!?

For another thing Bella is a stupid, mindless, arrogent, idiot who can't think on her own and has to rely on a vampire (s dangerous one) to think for her.  How easy would it be to lure her to the forest and eat her!?!?!? Come ON!!

I have an issue with the sparkling...that's just plain stupid.

And the clima is the most anti-climactic climax ever to hit the shelves!!! It's basically "I got to the dance studio, and James beat me up a bit, I thought I was in heaven, and Edward came and starting crying as he sucked my blood!!!*

Overall, a dull and stupid book.

HAPPY NOW?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, to debate that question with someone that states that he doesn't like romance to begin with, seems pointless; just like reading the book is pointless if you don't actually like romance (not to say stupid wink).

For another thing Bella is a stupid, mindless, arrogant idiot who can't think on her own and has to rely on a vampire (a *editor's note: not really* dangerous one) to think for her.  How easy would it be to lure her to the forest and eat her!?
Come ON!!

Your point here being? Nobody likes Bella, apart from Edward obviously.

I have an issue with the sparkling...that's just plain stupid.

Agreed. tongue

Overall, a dull and stupid book.

That's a matter of taste; which can't be argued about, or so they say.

You certainly don't mind when I state that the validity of most of your arguments is questionable, so far.

Ok, fine.

But I think that the book has no depth to it.  It seems like a shallow romance that people only want to read becuase everybody else is doing so.

And what have you to say about my climax point?

Yeah I think that's much of the appeal of it, it's literary fast food. You read it in a couple days/hours (depending on your reading speed), and if you're into romance you think meh, not really a good story but it was fun to read and gave me a warm fuzzy feel and a few days later you forgot most of it.
It's a thrill of the moment thing, you either like it from the start or you won't really get into it.
It's certainly not worth the hype build around it by the fanatics on both sides.

And what have you to say about my climax point?

Yeah, writing big climatic battle scenes is so not her forte. And from what I heard about 'The Host' she still hasn't learned that one.

But it's futile to attack 'twilight' for being a romance, because that is just what the book is and it doesn't make a secret of it.

Ok, bashing Twilight is fun, but I don't bash it because it's a romance.  When did I every say anything like that?

I ahve read these books and I say they are great. What I don't like is the franchising of it and the fact that the werewolves are not real werewolves. You find that out in the 4th book.

Just because I say it's chick lit-y doesn't mean I'm bashing it.   I mean that I don't like chick lit myself.  And there is a difference between Chick Lit and Romance.  Chick Lit is a shallow romace directed towards more teenage girls, and a romance is a romance!  Completely different genres, and Twilight is Chick Lit.

Which throws up the question again, why read it when you know before hand that you don't like it?
Doesn't seem like the smart thing to do.... big_smile

Ah yes, I see a romance aimed at teenaged girls is something completely different
from a romance. Because romance ain't romance... tongue

Chick lit doesn't mean it's a romance. A chick flick isn't necessarily a romantic movie.

Re: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - by Stephenie Meyer

Not a title I'm familiar with.
However, if you thought 'twilight' to be bad you have to read 'new moon', more joy for you!

It's even slower than 'twilight' and has the worst plot twist in book history! The word 'unrelated' doesn't even begin to describe it. smile
Which is a pity actually, because besides a extremly slow start and a idea that rivals sparkly vamps she managed to setup a more believable romance with Jacob than with Edward.

I may start reading that to see what all the fuss is about. It just sounds like some stupid love story that goes on and on about the same thing. As my reading teachers explains the book she is reading to the class, thats what it sounds like to me.

aww man no offense to anyone but i gotta make a correction bella the main char. of the series is from arizona not california, to anyone who might have bad opinions about this series, i can tell you that i bashed the hell out of the series calling it gay...etc then i saw the movie with a friend and i was intrigued so i picked up the first book, then the second, and so on now i have read all four about three times each, so don't be afraid to look into this series it's pretty good. my personal favorite is eclipse, the third book.

I just don't feel like "fitting in" when it comes to this series. I may read it......eventually. I just dont feel like being with this annoying craze. The big question will be "How many times have you read the Twilight series?" or "How many times have you've seen the Twilight movie?" and Ill respond "F*cking NONE! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Wow.....that would be great.

Re: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - by Stephenie Meyer

I read the first three books and half of the last one. The first time I read it I was all like, "0HM33G0DZILUVTWILIGHTITZT3HGR8TST!!1!! Then I read it for a second time, and thought, "Why the hell did I waste my time reading this crappy book?" I read New Moon, and enjoyed the parts Edward WASN'T in it. I hated Eclipse, but didn't even finish Breaking Dawn...it made me physically ill, literally.
The movie sucked, and the only reason I went to watch it was because it was my brother's and sister's birthday and they wanted to see it.
So yeah, it's just a phase right now. Expect to hear parents naming their kids RENESMEE in the next few months D:
