I certainly hope so, cuz I don't want another guy with a shotgun standing at my door. sad

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

they were around before history, they are around now, and they will dominate the earth in the future

so...yes i do believe they exist/existed. isnt that what this whole site is about tho?

if we didnt believe in them then what would be the point in this site existing?

This site is not just for those who identify as werewolves - it's a place to discuss all things werewolf - movies, literature, songs, etc. For those of use who came to it with a desire to chat about werewolf movies and the like, it's the best place to be wink

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

Science and religion has kind of taken over things a lot could exist, we just don't see it because it is the norm. Maybe werewolves, vampires, and the like have become something in tales and some of nightmares like in 30 Days of Night. Maybe they've learned to hide their tracks through history to make sure that civilization doesn't find them. I believe such things are real because why would it be so taboo to say such things to someone? Maybe the "silver bullet" ideal is just a falsity to rest the fact there was a werewolf about and they did not find them so they just randomly shot some poor bastard. In history, back during the witch burning days over here, Europe had a werewolf/vampire mass slaughter all over the country and into Russia and historians believe it is because of a hallucinogenic fungus in the rye and wheat that was being baked into breads. Maybe that was just a B/S lie to cover up some stuff as well. When speaking of such things, conspiracies arise, but unless we were there during the first sighting or any attacks caused by something of lupine descent, we can never know.

Over all, I do believe there are things in the world that we do not see and things that we just cannot see due to how we are trained, so to speak, to be.

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

Heh, the problem with that, Kostchtchie, is that, if all that evidence that there were Werewolves is just lies made to cover up the fact that there were Werewolves, and you discount that, then there's no longer any reason at all to believe that werewolves ever existed.

Well, there are a few other problems, for instance, while the authorities were trying so hard to convince people that Werewolves were real (by shooting random "poor bastards" and such) why would they be trying so hard to cover it up?

But you're right, the idea that there's such a taboo today should certainly indicate something. And, since we were not "back there", we have a serious difficulty in figuring out what actually did happen.

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

The entire thing is a giant contradictory.

I'm not saying that all of it isn't true. I'm saying that just some of it could be a cover up to suppress the idea of such things existing. Like with aliens. You see it, but the government says "NOT!" or Chupacabra in the Mexico and South America. People have prints and video and pictures. "Nope, didn't see shite, son."

They needed proof, but if they could not find any, someone else got the blame. That is what they would try to cover up, needing a special bullet to kill something so hard to find when they have a body right there. For the time it might have been more of a "relief" to the people that they had something. The population is fickle, we all know that.

Its just my thoughts and they're full of holes like a lot of theories. I just got up, I can't think right now.

I would lay money on a bet that half a city could see a werewolf fight, and they would either deny it, renounce it as a hoax ("It even looked fake."), or the local government would start looking for something in the drinking water.

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

I agree Sentinel, in fact, a really strange phenomenon noted by a lot of Therians (I call it social transparency) is that they have a hard time being noticed in public. People tend to ignore them without necessarily trying to - and when they find out about Therians for the first time, they tend to forget about it very quickly.

But, and here's the problem, Kostchtchie, and it's very similar to the problem of a Christian that doesn't accept Biblical inerrancy. If you can't trust some of the evidence, but you don't know which you can accept, then you can't trust any of it. But the reality is that, in such a case, people don't distrust all of it, they accept the parts they want to accept uncritically.

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

Well put, WVZ, and I withdraw my theory. I still believe that there are things out there we don't notice or see because of things in the past making it a norm to ignore it. "If I don't see it, its not there." syndrome so to speak.

Re: Do you believe werewolves ever existed? Where did the idea come from?

Hmm.....don't withdraw your theory until you're ready....it might have some merit. I'm just showing weaknesses - they might be overcome. For instance, I agree that we think we know a lot more than we do about what has actually happened in the past. Perhaps it's better not to accept any history and extrapolate back from the present?

I do, very much. He politely finds the holes without "know-it-all syndrome" and politely suggests a better way of looking at things. I respect people for such.
