Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

*nods* It all comes down to how you choose to see it.

But, blessing or curse, it's there and there's not much you can do about it ether way.

Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

Yes, exactly. To be honest I see it as neither a blessing or a curse, in the same way the fact I have blue eyes and brown hair is neither a blessing or a curse. It's just the way I am, its just another feature. Being therian doesn't make life better or worse for me. It just makes it different. Well, I imagine it does, its difficult to say because I've only ever been a therian or a therian in denial.

Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

ok, seriously, I think we need to stop agreeing with me and WVZ and start actually talking about the topic here, which is: what led you to believe you were a therian?  If you really think there is something to be discussed as to whether it is "a blessing or a curse" then go ahead and make a new topic, but right here, we are far off the mark.

Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

To say exactly when I knew I could be a "Therian" would be very hard to pinpoint. I think I've always had an inner knowing of what I was and many signs showed up as I grew. Growing up, I've always been "different". I never gave much thought to any of those signs back then but now they make a little more sense.

For instance:
1. I learned how to climb up stairs by watching dogs.
2. I used to bark along with my dog Sandy.
3. I could start a whole neighbourhood of dogs barking by barking myself.
4. Anything that looked "canine-ish" was instantly cool.
5. One of my favorite movies was Balto. My favorite scene was near the end where he howled and I would usually join in and howl along.
6. I often got angry at people who said "woof" because it sounds nothing like a real bark. I often wanted to tell them to bark from the diaphram.
7. Comparing my status in my class to the wolf hierarchy. (I was really unpopular back then.)

And that's only the one's I remember!

As for the topic of dreams, I had a rather interesting one three years ago:

I was standing on the bank of a really steep river. It was the middle of fall and the leaves on the trees had fully changed color. When I looked across the river on the opposite bank and I saw a hunter pointing a gun at something I could not see. Then I looked over to my left side. Standing there was a beautiful white wolf. It's eyes were staring straight into mine and for a few seconds I could not look away. The eyes were deeply, deeply intelligent and it seemed as if it were looking into my very soul.  Though it said nothing its gaze conveyed it's message loud and clear, "What are you going to do? What are you going to choose?" It was almost a form of telepathy. I instantly knew who it was reffering to. I looked over to the hunter again and realized in horror that he was going to shoot the wolf. All of a sudden a gun appeared in my hands. It was a rifle like the hunters. I knew then what I was being asked. There were only two options: 1. The wolf would be shot and die. or 2. I had to stop (shoot) the hunter. Both were terrifying options. I looked back at the wolf one last time. I felt as if I deeply knew this wolf and was somehow connected to it. It knew what might happen, but still it chose to stay. It was letting its fate lay in my hands. That last look into it's eyes was all I needed. I aimed my gun and the shot resounded through the air. The man went limp and tumbled into the ravine. I was literally shocked at my actions. I looked at my side for the wolf, but it had dissapeared.

End of Dream

This is probably one of my most profound dreams and it had a lot of personal meaning. I know this post wasn't particularily about dreams but I thought I would share it anyway in case someone would enjoy reading it. I've always enjoyed sharing dreams.

Another strange thing happened just recently. I have strong feelings that my purpose is to be a guardian. One day it just literally came to me. I was walking through the halls when suddenly a "knowing" that said I was meant to be a guardian came out of the blue (It's hard to explain). Anyway, I looked up the wolf in the book Animal-Speak, and guess what? It listed Guardian as one of the energies or lessons of the wolf! It's was definantly an interesting discovery. I still don't know what I'm meant to guard and protect, but I have faith that I will know eventually.

I have so much more I want to share with everyone (I could write a whole essay), but I think I already did enough rambling for one post (My first one, too!). I just hope you found it enjoyable to read! Sorry if it went horribly off topic!

(P.S. I find people with other animal sides (Besides wolves) to be very interesting and fascinating.)

Well there are several dream threads around here somewhere so I'll just put it there, but you are correct we moved way off topic so with out further ado I shall evacuate myself from distracting the topic and let the train get back on track. wink

Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

I found I could M-Shift when I was in the play The Lion, Witch, and The Wardrobe, and I played one of the wolves (not the main one like beta or something) it is really easy for me.  what i do is get in the frame of mind i used for the play & go on from there, so my M-shifts are 25% thespian 75% Therian

Re: How did you come to know your a therian?

This seems to have gone off topic but I want to share...

I've always attracted animals, and them to me, I've always attributed it to "natural magic" (I'm not a practicing witch or anything).  In any case as a teen my feelings intensified and I was one of them.  I can recall after my brothers pet got out of the house I had a strong urge to go outside in the middle of the night.  I found him across a busy street after he was missing for two days.  This has been my whole life, feeling like one of the animals and one with people who were really animals.

I don't know if that really qualifies as therianthropy, but there don't seem to be clear cut parameters.  Any other like experiences?

I had to chuckle at that, despite its corniness. Sometimes corny is good!

And as for the topic at hand...I can't really say 'how' as currently I'm still on a bit of a realisation for it. At first I denied, but now I think it's just figuring it out a bit more. Its always been there, but I haven't recognised it...then again since it's been a part of me how could I distinguish it from myself?
That probably sounded very random indeed, wonder if it even makes sense? Ah, I've never been good at making sense.
