The Werewolf Café / An American Werewolf in London: Remake

There isn't much news about this movie, but its supposedly in production. The original, thanks to Rick Baker, practically revolutionized the werewolf genre so it has a lot to live up to. I think this movie has a crazy potential to be amazing. What do you think, should they make a new one since there really isn't anything wrong with the original?

Many things about this have been told in other related threads. The truth about this: it is, in the best case, in pre-production. That is, no names, no director, no actors, no script. Just producers and rumors of possible Landis' collaboration, but nothing confirmed.
About remake yes/no remake, look on the other threads and you'll find some interesting answers.

Dear Hollywood,

It's blatantly obvious you've run out of gently caressing ideas. Please scrape at the back of your skulls for something original. I mean, I doubt anything'll actually pop up considering the copious amounts of remakes you've been bombarding us with, but at least try.

A decent sequel, fine. But remakes are just sheer laziness unless there's some kind of new insight put into it, like Cronenberg's "The Fly".

Oddly enough, there was a bit of news recently about Cronenberg coming on board to remake his own remake of The Fly.

OMG! Please not... I still have nightmares (and not the pleasant ones) from watching Romero ripping off himself with his "Dairy of the Dead", most useless Zombie movie ever seen.

Why would you want to do a further remake of "The Fly", the two movies as they stand (original and Cronenberg's take) are fine examples of movie making that can be hardly improved on.
Same goes for "An American Werewolf", the movie is perfect as it is and the "in Paris" sequel showed that trying to build on that formula is most likely to end in disaster.
Though the Indian version, "Junoon", is great fun.

He converted and directed his version of The Fly as an opera in Paris last year. Who knows what goes through the man's head?

I must admit, trying to remake this film would only end in horrible failure, however remaking paris might not be a bad idea, there's plenty to imporve on there

Indeed, and it won't be very bad to watch a female werewolf transformation avoiding CGI with animatronics.

I gotta say, I'm kinda pissed about the AWIL remake.

You would think that as time progresses, the graphics would become more believable, but no! If they do that transformation scene...I honestly have no hope for it.

No, please don't make a remake. They won't get a transformation scene better than the one in American Werewolf in London. They'll use some shitty CGI graphics.

Hey there's a new American Werewolf in London dvd out. Well it came out sometime 2009. I'm not sure what extras are on it or if it's just another shipment order of the same disc with a different cover on it. (I bought the one they released a few years ago with the extras. Man I'm glad they decided to cut some of those scenes of the werewolf running with the dude using his hand in the werewolf gloves and the screen behind them. that was hilarious. Glad they included that though.) Has anyone gotten this or rented it?
