Red; Circus is coming to town

This is prologue of my story; Red

                                                  Circus is coming to town

There were few people ever heard their name. They moved quietly in middle of the night to a field beside Stony Plain Road. Securities and late shift workers in Youngstown Industrial were the first who witnessed their arrival. Some stood on the road watching them curiously. One of the guards walked across the field to ask them who they were.

Then he raised his brows in interest.

In the morning, ten of them hopped up the truck with piles of papers, cans of glue, and brushes. They split in pairs and jumped down all around the town, distributing posters. One brushed glue on the wall; one put a poster on, and repeated it again and again.

Before noon, posters were spread all around the town.

Little Melanie’s mom had just picked her up from preschool. She couldn’t yet read but a red and white poster with a big elephant on the top was very interesting. She couldn’t help importuning her mom to read it for her.

Then she grinned widely.

Children gathered in front of their elementary school excitingly, reading list of shows in a wheel of fortune in the middle of poster, guessing what kind of shows would they be.

One boy told his friend he’ll tell his mom to bring him there.

A teen couple from a high school nearby didn’t get excited like the younglings do. They were too cool for that. Whereas, after roaming the mall nights after nights, went to parties after parties; somewhere new to spend their Friday night would be nice.

The girl kissed her boyfriend for his good idea.

Three ladies stood in front of Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market. They lived in the same neighborhood, usually had tea party and went to places together. They chatted about their good memory while one lady pulled the poster off carefully, thinking that her granddaughters who would come to visit this weekends would like it.

Everybody loved circus.

Re: Red; Circus is coming to town

This story is highly intriguing to me... it sounds a wee bit like Stephen King (in a lighter, far less graphic way) where he describes what's happening all across the target area.  Why the circus!?!?!  The way everybody is attracted to this sideshow circus, it sounds like there is going to be an imminent slaughter of many people.  In general a circus is a perfect setting for creepy events.  Who isn't afraid of clowns?

P.S.- Welcome to the Werewolf Cafe!

Re: Red; Circus is coming to town

you should continue it, I like where you are starting to lead the reader
and yes it does remind me of Steven King but nevertheless you must write on

if you expect something to happen, it will; whether good, bad or judgmental
but if you hold no expectations, the world opens up with myriad possibility
