I think they should actually try to actually talk to biologists and design one around what a werewolf would actually look like. Half the time it's just a rather blocky head and elongated limbs and not much else. I would think the fur would be more smooth since wolves generally don't have the raggedy/curled fur you see in many movies. Course, I'm no biologist so I can't really atone for any of this. Oh well, one can only speculate, eh?

My theory on the curly fur is that they're basing it on human hair. When our hair is grown out, it tends to be more coarse and curly, so it makes sense to me, though for aesthetic reasons, I do prefer the more sleek, animal fur or a mix of the two.

But I agree, a movie werewolf with some actual research behind it would definitely be intriguing.

Re: Howling Reborn Werewolf revealed...sorta.

This just popped up on demand, so I gave it a watch. While it's not the worst werewolf movie I've ever seen, it's nothing special either. The characters are kind of bland and don't really react the way real people would - locked in a building and stalked by angry werewolves? Have sex! - uh, no. The plot seems kind of haphazard, with elements similar to several other werewolf movies, but nothing explored in any depth. The werewolves seem to be evil just for the sake of being assholes. The whole thing is very Twilight-y. Also the editing is so choppy and abrupt it's almost like we're only seeing the middle of scenes, and the action is very hard to follow, especially towards the end.

Of course the werewolf suits only show up in the very last few minutes, and every time the cameraman sees them he seems to suffer a major seizure disorder. The design isn't horrible, just a bit uninspired. The hairless torso and hairy legs makes them look like they're wearing furry pants, which is a bit unfortunate, and they have long, weirdly lizardlike tails.

Dear lord, your post cracked me up, particularly about the major seizure disorder %)

And what is it with rat tails for werewolves? Is it really that hard or horrible to have a healthy full tail for a werewolf? I'm not asking for a squirrel tail here...

I mean, maybe it makes sense with digitigrade werewolves - they don't need the rudder/balancing effect of a full tail. But go with a real one, or none. No lizard/rat/mangy snakes coming out the end of werewolves' rears.

Re: Howling Reborn Werewolf revealed...sorta.

Well, the Underworld movie seemed to have gotten werewolves confused with geckos, at least, that's the only reason I can think of they'd spend so much time crawling around on the ceiling. Actually a were-gecko would be kind of awesome. But yeah, the rat-tail thing has showed up in a couple of films and it kind of confuses me.

Re: Howling Reborn Werewolf revealed...sorta.

Finally saw this. I was busy thinking 'wow, it's not utter crap' and then realized that it was slowly circling the utter crap drain. Fell in, then crawled out somewhat due to the rather cool look of the werewolves. Not the bat people san full muzzles and hair, but the big ones at the end - with long hair around the head (which was interesting, though I don't tend to go for that in drawings of werewolves), and those gorgeous muzzles. Bottom jaw was a little anatomically silly, but the teeth were great, and the eyes were very expressive. Everything else I just ignored, basically from the point where he couldn't be around the girl because he was just too 'dangerous'. *snort* It got real Twilight real hard from that point.

Hi all!

I tried searching to see if there was already some threads about this great new werewolf film and could only find a little bit. Anywho, has anyone seen this film yet? I watchred it not too long ago and really enjoyed it. It's very modern with some awesome looking werewolves in!

Here's some details from the official statement...

http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm14 … ront2D.jpg[/CENTER]

In this chilling reboot of the ‘80s horror classic, Landon Liboiron of Terra Nova stars as high school senior Will Kidman, whose infatuation with a beautiful classmate begins to trigger certain teenage animal instincts. But when a mysterious woman (Ivana Milicevic of Casino Royale) with a shocking secret re-enters his life, Will learns that he is heir to a powerful line of werewolves.

Now he finds he has a choice to make: succumbing to his primal nature or turning against his own. In order to fight the destiny of his legacy and save the girl of his dreams, he must battle not only his growing blood lust but an army of fearsome beasts hell-bent on killing us all. Tonight, the full moon rises. The horror begins anew. This is THE HOWLING REBORN.

What do you think of it? Personally I thought its no where near as good as the orginal - not many things are! - but it was still a lot of fun and definetly a much needed fresh approach to the series.

I've watched it too, and it doesn't look refreshing for me. In fact, it is full of clichés. The idea was interesting, but the director failed when someone decided to downgrade the tone of an otherwise nice werewolf movie from a cool R one to a twiligth-esque one, where even the cheap gore momments cannot save the lack of "nerve". The worst of all is that the movie doesn't give what was expected by the trailer, I mean, trailers usually shows the best (or not) of a movie, but after watching the movie, I felt that I have been consciously deceived.
The effects are ok, if you don't look at those rat tails, and the transformation scenes are.... missing.
The actors do an average job, let's say, as much as the script let them go with plain and stereotypical characters.
And I prefer not to compare the movie with the original... Marsha kicks kathryn's ass one hundred times (as an example).

I am sorry if I've been rude with the movie, but I feel that this experiment, child of our time of censorship and teenage bullshit, has miserably failed to cover the expectancies from the lovers of the good old 80's movies.

This was better than I thought it waould be. I got duped by a terrible trailer yet again. It was better than a lot of werewolf movies that have been out. I'd say it's a little under a Blood and Chocoloate type deal. Its on Cable now...

I liked it more then I thought I would. When I think of all of the werewolf movies I've ever seen (both good and just awful) I would put this film somewhere in the upper middle. The only thing I couldn't stand was that the werewolves tails looked like rat tails. They would have been better off with no tail at all.
