There was a request from Bad Wolf today that we open a forum on RPG book related games (the kind played with dice and such), have at it...

I have never played these games myself, but I have a collection of the old "Rage" cards and I have many "Werewolf: The Apocalypse" gaming books. I collected them for the artwork.

If this forum topic takes off, we can create more tpics to separate things if needed.

Major collector of Werewolf: The Apocolypse. The artwork was the first decent rendering of wolfmen I had ever seen, and gave it a blend of feral human and beast nobility.
Each artist in every book gave a different look to werewolves and all the other portrayed were-beasts. They incoroprated native cultures that referred to these beings and made something amazing that had me eager for the next book, not as collectors items (which I'll admit they pretty much are now) but as stories, treasures to look upon.
The setting obviously has werewolves defending a dark, semi-gothic version of Earth but often the art includes scenes of these same creatures in normal settings, some fierce but many tender as well.
For WWTA I have just about every book...literally. Ask and there's a 90% chance I have it. But more importantly, I have them for a good reason.

a friend at work has most...we play when we go to the field (provided im not on a recovery or getting ambushed or working on a truck)

So what do you Wolves think of the White Wolf game, in general.
Also, what would you like to see done in my game, that White Wolf left out, according to your views on their product.
I have many of thier books, and have played Werewolf many times over the years, as well as Vampire.
My goal is to do something deffernt with Mid-Shift, there is no need at all for me to copy them, but I feel that my take on Werewolves will be new to many people.
So again...what would the Pack here like to see in a NEW Science Horror game?

Are you talking art? or books? or minatures? or cards? or storyline? Obviously something that would be exclusive to the game would be cool.

Hmmm.....
How about Werewolves in Space? Where they came from other moons of far off planets. They're werewolves all right but they don't look anything like werewolves of Earth.

Everything except the cards...will be in my game, plus other things, that are as yet undesclosed.

I think that the artwork would be a big draw, and obviously the game needs an appeal to grab the attention of the gamers out there to be successful.

Right Bussie.
I am all about that, give people so much to do, and make it as easy as it can be, without killing the adult seriouse side of it, and it might just work.

Well I like D&D and plan on doing some games as well as some D20 games, I even created my own character sheets to make things a bit simpler. I'm not picky about the characters people play, D20 maybe the only one where human characters may have to have an explanation for being a wizard or something like that. I'll even allow for odd creatures that would have difficulty with certain things, for example allowing worg and winter wolf characters.

That would be neat. I never got into D&D but I was planning on it. I know some people that are into it though and one guy was trying to redo or update his character sheet and it looked like such a pain.
By the way, I'm liking the name!

Thanks. I actualy like pen and paper games better then computer games just becouse you are only limited by your imagination and the game master.
In one game I had my character hug a chimera to try to calm her down

Nice! lol!
Yeah, I've read and heard about some awesome things the game masters have come up with. It sounds like cool stuff

Yep. D20 Modern is like D&D but in a more modern periad, so there are things like cars and guns

Sweet! That can really make things interesting!

The core book has some funny pictures to. For example there is a kobold cammando, a gnoll pimp, a bugbear cop, an ogre hockey player, a mummy librarian, a madusa secratary, and a vampire clown (not really funny, actually very creepy)
