I am not sure exactly what I believe regarding this topic. I believe in a possible crypto-zoo-ology (hybrid type of animal) idea to possibly explain "werewolf," "bigfoot" and "mothman" types of sitings. I believe that man decends from very ancient and primitive ancestry, and that man is born with basic instincts and has some primal needs, wants and emotions that (depending on the circumstances) can triggered to cause him to act like a raging, powerful, untamable animal (we see daily examples of these types of behaviors on the news everyday). I don't believe in the "shapeshifting" (physical) change idea as much as I believe in an emotional change of someone's mindset.

I'll believe in anything...just not anyone! I think it's a possibility. More like the shapeshifters in Wolven. A controlled and intentional change vs. some sort of uncontrollable desease.

I am open in a Charles Fort sort of way. There is a lot of evidence and data that science dismisses because it is inconvenient. Thomas Kuhn writes about it in Structurs of Scientific Revolutions, where science ignores certain data, describing it as anomalies until such time they build up to a point that causes a shift in how the world is viewed.
It is easier to take someone who claims to be able to transform into a wolf and declare them insane instead of honestly investigating the claim.

SeanF makes a point about the world of professional science that I agree with thoroughly. The fact is, you can't "prove" something doesn't exist, only that it does. And, of course, that can be very difficult too...
Hmmm.....

Heh, Return of the living dead topic.

Apparently; look at the dates.
back on topic: I do believe in weres. Not just werewolves, but werecats, werebears, werefish, were...whatevers. I believe that, as humans are animals, some of us have souls which do not quite fit with what the dominant paradigm has decided is properly human.

Werefish??? Sounds almost like mermaids.
What? No weremoose?

What is a werewhatever???
Is it a huge beast with spotted purple fur, horns like a moose's, tail like a lion's, gills like a shark's, ears like a mouse's, scaly feet with claws like a T-Rex's, nose like a bear's and teeth like a alligator's?

so what does a werewhatchamacallit fall under?

I beleive whole heartedly in werewolves. I believe in the physical and mental changes. They are entirely possible, and I don't care what anyone says about it taking too much energy to perform the change, it is possible. I respect the opinions of others, don't get me wrong, but evidence prevails in my mind.

He'll be here until the 31st of Octember! Try the mutton!
Speaking of sheep-meat, do you think werecarnivors would be able to digest raw meat in human form? After all, if they eat it as beasts, it stays in their stomaches after they change, right?

O.o
It's according to what kind of meat it is. I eat raw beef and Human form is all I have. I wouldn't even consider eating raw pork and I'd be pretty touchy about venison or fowl.
Robert Cammon's Werewolves had problems with worms.
Frankly, thouugh, I detest mutton and wouldn't even eat it if I were a Wolf.

Good thing that I'm a vegetarian!
