Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

I actually found something pretty interesting today. It was a old book that talked about " mysterious creatures" it actually seemed pretty genuine. Sadly it's really hard to read ( very old pages ).

Ok so I've got a question about being a therian. If you feel like your are one what happens when you come into contact with the animal that you are? I know what happened to me but i need a little outside input. So any clues?

Oh it might not hurt for me to explain what happened to me. You see i used to sneak out a lot as a kid, and I would roam around the woods behind my house. Well this is were it gets interesting there was a wolf pack that lived in those woods. And well finally they found me one night. I'll leave out the details ( unless anyone request them ) and I'll just say I ended up with plenty of scars from that experience and I got a mouth full of wolf blood ( Gack! ).

So can anyone tell me of their experiences or there perceptions of what happened to me? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!wink

Hello everyone! I've been looking for a site where I could ask real Therians if they think I'm a werewolf. Lately (this week) I've been having weird things going on with me and my life because of this list of things happening, I'm nervous but excited! : D

Backstory: I just turned 15 February 18th, my astrological sign is: aquarius. I weigh about 120 lb and 5' 5" tall. Eye color is dark brown, hair is black. My background is Native American, Mexican, and African American. Religion is Christianity. I'm a calm laid back kinda of guy, very smart and help those in need.

Sleep: I have found that I've been staying up a lot later than usual (about 2-3 hrs longer), and see myself sleeping on the ground in a curled up position. When I do sleep I find myself dreaming about being a werewolf or wolf in first-person going on hunts for deer and such with my kind. I've also had moments before I wake up where my body felt like it was an actual werewolf with my feet standing on the front of my feet and toes but not the ball of my foot, my hands feel like they are paws with claws, tail, pointy K-9 teeth, face of a wolf, and fur which causes me to get really hot. When I wake up I still feel very hot and sweaty from the dreams.

Cravings: I like eating meat but not very much like some do, but lately that's changed. For the past few days I haven't wanted anything except fresh meat. Yesterday we had ribs I ate about one rack and chewed on the bones for a while for marrow and such (I don't do this at all). Today to test my wolf side out I tryed a rare steak (I hate steak especially when rare) and oh my god, it tasted so good I couldn't control myself I ate it with my hands like an animal before my parents saw me ^_^. Luckily my mother said she would let me have her left over steak (medium rare) so I can't wait.

Fighting/Agression: This was one of things that was happening before this week. When I was younger I was a happy laid back and calm kid and still am today, but when I got into a fight with someone I lost control till I could see red and let the beast come out which caused my cousin to be kicked down the stairs (year older than me and works out), me giving someone a bloody nose one punch, and me almost injuring someone, because of this I always won. But nowadays I choose to stay calm no matter the circumstances to not let him come out unless it's an emergency. Oh yeah and I seem to feel no pain in "beast mode".

Wolf: Ever since I was young I was amazed with wolves. I loved to read about them, talk about them, and watch them on TV. I also love werewolves and fully believed in the idea of people being one. Everytime I went to a Zoo the first place I went was the Wolves and I felt like I had a connection to them because whenever we had eye contact the wolves would get very close to me. I just love wolves because of how smart they are, thier feirceness, the pack, etc. The same goes for dogs, I haven't met one that didn't like me or let me pet them. I'm going to try to get a half wolf half dog pup soon.

Instincts and Senses: My reflexes have been tested by going through high school without getting touch which I succeeded indoing. My 6 senses are also much better allowing me to hear and smell better than I used to which has saved me from getting me in trouble by my parents, for example when I'm playing a game like Halo 3 on Xbox Live I use my instinct to help me in the game, using it I can quickly rack up kills in the game to win.

Misc: I'm part of the "popular" group at school but I don't like being in large groups, so me and my best pals (4 of us all together) go away from the others at lunch, I'm the alpha of the pack. I want a "mate" (girlfriend) but wondering if she will be able to handle the fact that I might be a werewolf, if she can't and tells everyone my social life is ruined except for my pack. I also focus on only one mate at a time unless I know for sure that it won't work and all hope is lost.

I now feel like howling when happy, or growling when threatened. My symptoms of being a werewolf are worse at night. I tend to go up the stairs on the front part of foot and toes but no ball (sometimes use my hands too to be four legged) and run the same way. I don't want my parents to know about me being a Therian because of them being christians and they migh disown me or prohibit me from this kind of stuff. My ears shoot up when I hear noises. I hate very loud noses or cleaning product smells (too much febreze). I have a lot of hair on my body and it's all black, thin, and hard to notice, it also grows fast. My nails grow fast also. I've got an amazing immune system and I heal from wounds quickly, I've had a migrain this week though when some of my symptoms started. K-9 teeth feel sharper and larger, and my eye color used to be a lighter brown but now its a dark brown.

I feel deep down that I am I just want to know your opinions, thanks guys! Even if I'm not a were/therian I will continue to post in the forums.

I have the exact symptoms as Teenlycan....
weird...or is it common?

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Im no expert and i may never be one, but it sounds as if you could be a Werewolf, here are some questions and sugestions.

When you stay up later do you feel as if you have more energy?
Careful when eating rare steak, i does taste very good.
Meditate on a regular basis to keep the werewolf from coming out when you fight.
As far as the half wolf/dog pup is concerned, love him/her, care for him/her, and cherish ever moment with him/her, never neglect him/her.
Train and hone your Instincts and Senses they will help you later on.
Cant help you with a mate (girlfriend), im still looking for one myself.
When you are happy howl, let it out, and trust me youll feel better.
When threatened, Growl under your breath, so no one hears you.
The affects (symptoms makes it sound like you have a disease) of being a Werewolf will be more intense at night, because that side of you is Nocturnal.
When you are angry do your eyes change color?

This is all i have for now, but it does sound like you could be a Werewolf.
smile

In your mind what am i? Am i human or am i something else?????

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Fortunately or unfortunately, Werewolves don't actually exist, they're a legend that in the early ninties Teenagers on the internet starting yiffing to. Psychology does, and DREAMS are real, dreams are in fact often the mental fulfillment of desires, such as having women, flying, or being a Werewolf in your case. The waking stuff may be your subconscious continuing to try and fulfill these desires, or it may just be puberty. Tastes change, emotions DEFINTELY change during puberty. Sleeping position likely has something to do with the way you're dreaming, you want to be a wolf in your dreams and maybe your mind even tricks itself into thinking you are one, but they don't actual exist. What does exist is a mental disorder, but I'm sure you don't have it, you just have a fantasy. Fantasies are entirely healthy, just as long as you acknowledge that some things simply do not happen in real life. However, I do not recommend acting like a werewolf in the daylight, this will just alienate people, and has no practical use whatsoever. And howling is what wolves do when they want to gather other wolves, not because they're happy. Growling will get your ass kicked by kids bigger than you.

By the way people: bad in crowds? I'm big on werewolf lore, and that is NOWHERE. It's agorophobia, not lycanthropy. wink

P.P.S: If werewolves DID exist, you'd lose control at the full moon and go murder someone, not become a happy 'in-control' furry. Hunters would have to come and kill you. wink

You might be a werewolf if........etc, etc, etc.

Sometimes it just dosen't make sense.

Hi again, I was highly amused by this post, so I'm going to go over it in a nice, fun list. Let's get started!

Background: Relevant in any way? No. If werewolves existed--which they don't, and yes, I will be repeating this--none of these things would be relevant. Religion only tends to come into play with vampires as far as I'm aware, although, the first 'werewolf' was created by a god of the Greek pantheon, Zeus. Lycaon. Wiki it. But, in short, pointless paragraph.

Sleep: Wording issues, ja? By 'see yourself' do you mean you're having visions of yourself sleeping? Hallucinations do exist, and can happen through great fatigue, but not 2-3 hours of it. But it might be your mind's way of telling your ass to get off Halo 3 and into bed. wink Next bit here: Dreams. Dreams are your subconscious' way of going over your memories and getting rid of the shite it doesn't need. Also, it can be where your subconscious' way of fulfilling your own fantasies that can't be fulfilled otherwise (because, you know, werewolves don't exist), be they your subconscious' fantasies, or your own, conscious fantasies. If you've always been fascinated with wolves, perhaps you've envied them before, thought what it would be like to be one, or even wished that you were one? A little bit of influence, such as watching a movie, gives your mind some nice images to work with, copy and paste on to yourself, and... Voila! Wet dream! That is, if you've been a naughty boy watching porn. If you've been watching Werewolf movies, yeah, you might think you're a werewolf.
Although hopefully not a she-wolf, or those wet dreams might come into it again. *COUGH*HOTANDSWEATY*COUGH*.
On a less utterly *COUGH*ORGASMICALLY*COUGH*  hilarious note, people can sweat after nightmares.

Cravings: Had you ever tried rare steak before that point? Did you have any reason not to like it? It's still steak, tastes pretty much the same, just less cooked. Eating with your hands, you were testing to see if you were a werewolf, so you used your hands. It's called role playing, nothing special. If you have tried rares teak before this point and you suddenly like it, there's a little thing you should talk to your parents about, it's called puberty, and it's a special time in a young man's life when STRANGE CHAAANGES start to happen, such as changing tastes, aggresive outbursts of emotion (hormones! big_smile), and spontaneous erections.

Fighting/Agression: See the end of the 'Cravings' paragraph. I mean, the end before the bit about spontaneous erections.
You're fifteen, you're smack in the middle of puberty, this shite happens.
I wasn't deluding myself into believing I was a werewolf when I was going through puberty, but agressiveness came all the same. Ever made plans for exactly how you'd kill a guy if he broke into your house? What? What? Is it just me?

Wolves: You like an animal, and that helped convince you that you're a werewolf? shite, my younger sister was obsessed with Dolphins when she was a kid, but she sure as hell didn't turn into a Dolphin by the light of the full moon. And my older sister, obsessed with Ponies? Are you calling my older sister a horse? Well, I think your mother must like cattle, in that case.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf-dog_hybrid
Make sure you read up before you get one though, it isn't a dog for any-old unexperienced furry like yourself.

Wikipedia wrote:

According to the CDC and the Humane Society of the United States, the wolfdog ranks sixth in the number of dog attack fatalities in the U.S.; with 14 hybrid-related fatalities between 1979 and 1998 in the United States. In 2000, DEFRA and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals released a lengthy study that attributed much of the reported aggressiveness of wolfdogs to the characteristics of the breeds of dogs the wolves are bred with. With both wolves' and dog's social habits revolving around a pack structure, wolfdogs may not show the dog's natural acceptance of humans as the dominant pack members, possibly resulting in physical confrontations. Some purport that attacks may not even be caused by typical behavior patterns of aggression and dominance present in either parent species, but instead may be related to predatory instincts, as the majority of attacks involve small children. Between 1981 and 1999, there have been 38 severe attacks and 13 fatalities caused by wolf hybrids in North America, with all victims being children. An officer in the South African Defence Force once commented that it was very difficult to dissuade wolf hybrids from pressing an assault once an attack was initiated.

Instinct/Senses: You think you're a werewolf...Because you're good at Halo. Son, I've heard the Flat Earth Society come up with better arguments than you! lol

Misc: You're mildly agorophobic, so what? Lore has never said ANYTHING about werewolves being agorophobes. As for your posse (I refuse to call it a pack, leave that to bikies and cultists), you're honestly a very confused young man. You're christian, but you were at one point considering more than one mate? If you're going to be a religion, at least research it first. Polygomy is shunned by the church, and also illegal in many places. Jesus, if all people were like you, that would explain why so many people actually believe in a god.
No shite, I know what a mate is. In Australia, it's less disgusting because that's what we call good friends. You seem to have some sort of fur obsession with comparing everyone you know to wolf culture. If you want a girlfriend, grow up and make sure you don't call her your 'mate'. A) She will probably think you're an insane furry of some sort, and B) Women like being treated as human beings, not as animals or sex-toys. You aren't a werewolf, because they don't exist. Ergo, she should have no problem with it.

Howling/Growling? Heck, do it if you want it, but do it in the privacy of your own home. People in the outside world will undoubtedly be creeped out, and you will notice many mothers guiding their children to the other side of the street when they have to walk past you. Your style of walking is also, conveniently, my style of walking. What you're walking on are called your Metatarsals. That's, in fact, a good way to work. It can give you some seriously ripped calves. Try jumping up and down on them, or placing just your metatarsals on stairs and lowering your heel down. If you can pull that off, you'll be walking on boulders. Walking on your tarsals however (the sole of your foot, heel, whatever) is not a good idea.
No, your ears do not shoot up when you hear noises. Your ears do not have muscles in them, your ears are not mobile.
Not many people at all like loud noises or cleaning liquids, that is a very dumb reason to think you're a werewolf. Heck, who am I kidding. All these reasons are dumb reasons.
Really retarded stuff now. You grow hair, no shite. You grow nails, no shite. You grow them a little faster than what you consider usual? Puberty. Immune system? Holy shite son, no one has a set level of maximum healingness. Everyone heals at different speeds, everyone has a different level of immuno resistancy. These levels can also change. Eye colour also changes. My fatass comedy teacher from years back went from Blue to Gray. He isn't a Werewolf either.

Good god. Your 'reasoning' for believing yourself to be a Werewolf went from general normal confusion, to dumb, to irrational, to sick, to absolutely retarded. Werewolves, are all very good and nice. They make for great movies, great songs, great books, great art and generally great fun. I'm even writing a werewolf novel at the moment, heck, that's why I came here. Werewolves are great, but get this through your head:

Werewolves do not, and never have at any point whatsoever, existed. The only form of legit lycanthropy is a psychological disorder in which a very sick patient often has to be hospitalised for life. It's a fantasy, nothing more. Something that you can have fun thinking about or playing pretend with but will never have any actual, organic phyisical form, much like God, Santa, The Easter Bunny and Vampires. Continue to enjoy your dreams about them, but acknowledge quickly that they aren't actually there, or you're setting yourself on a very crowded path to instituionalisation and chronic idiocy.

And shame on the rest of you stupid, immature, pre-pubescent kiddies for encouraging him. Jesus Christ, this shite went from funny to retarded.

Indeed. big_smile I would get all riled up about the sheer ass wholeness of that individuals approach, but I'm too pooped.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

I'm not here to solve your damn problems. I'm here because I think werewolves are cool. I'm posting in this thread because a bunch of very confused or very immature people are mixing up roleplay and reality.

Oh really? Ass wholeness? That's never been accepted english as far as I am aware, but I gather you disagree with me?

Ok then, if you disagree:

To all you 'Therians' or 'Werewolves' posting on the forums: simply prove it. Give me a real video proof that any of you are capable of transforming into some sort of 'therian' or 'lycanthrope'. If you can do that, I will give you the sincerest gorram apology I've ever given, because I will be honestly surprised if any of you can or will provide.
No excuses, just some support of your claims that you lot somehow have the ability to turn into large, anthropomorphic animals. I'm talking actual physical changes, because that is clearly what you people have been trying to convince 'teenlycan' is within the realm of possibility.

If you're going to try and tell me that you're a 'mental therian' like I've heard many people say on various other forums, don't even bother, because in that case, you're just proving me correct. 'Mental' therians or lycans are simply people who like to imagine or pretend. Your imagination is vastly different from your body. Just because you think you're something, doesn't mean you are. I can pretty vividly imagine myself in a Cowboy-movie shootout under that arch in Utah, but in reality I've never left Australia before.

And I'll make this it's own thread just to make sure you all get to witness this.

Okay, I suggest that you be a little less aggressive about the situation. I, myself, do not believe werewolves to exist, nor have ever existed, but there is a subtle, less demeaning approach to stating your opinions. If you want to remain on a site (especially surrounded by individuals who are very quite nice), I suggest you tone down your vulgarity towards others and state your opinions in a non-hurtful manner, please.

lol Well, I understand. It's as easy as reporting him, so I may do just that. But since I'm not mod of this forum, I dunno whether I have the power to ban him. Maybe an Administrator can because no one should perpetually be bothered or demeaned by another member.

Isafos, the best thing for you is to step away from the skirmish before it gets out of hand more than it already has. There's no point in sparking a feud amongst the Cafe, so let's put an end to this childish derogetory exchange, okay?

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

One point I will make - though I haven't read through this dramatic banter:

In my experience, even here, not a single person who calls themself a therian, with one possible exception, gives a damn about real wolves.  Okay, make that two exceptions, forgot to count myself there.

Doesn't in occur to anyone that if you are a "werewolf" or a therian, or otherwise have some kind of connection to wolves, that you'd care about wolves, and shed this pathetic modern human existence to go do something to help your wild brethren?  You know, like I have done!  I gave up my life as a highly paid, world reknown programmer so that I could help my wild brothers because I saw that my werewolf fantasies were just that, fantasies.  Yes, I still hold to those fantasies, but its because I believe that I am on a path that may one day lead me to reckoning with wolves, and they will give me the gift I long have sought - the body to match my soul, if you will.  In other words, folks, if anyone is ever going to become a real werewolf, its going to be someone who earns it - if its possible.  I don't know - maybe its nonsense, but what maybe started as trying to earn the body of a wolf has become a real mission, a real fight, a real cause, with real benefits for an animal who deserves it.

And please, don't think I'm talking down to you, that certainly isn't my intent.  I'm merely trying to stress to you that wolves need allies, and I have relentlessly pursued finding other allies where I think they might be - among you.

Now, you may say that I'm a fool for trying.  But if you think that, then you don't think very highly of yourselves; because I have hope that if you aren't out there already, that I can somehow convince you that helping wolves in very real ways isn't only possible, but its your duty to the animal you claim to reckon with, the animal some of you claim to actually be.

During the Great Debate of 1998, when a term was being formulated to label werewolves/therians/etc.; I was without hope that anyone cared about wolves, that anyone actually had a connection to wolves beyond pure fantasy.  I was so disenchanted that I stopped arguing against the term "were" and advocated its use.  Why?  Because "were" means human.  And to me, it quite appropriately described those who took the label, and its why I never really adopted it.

Now, what I want everyone to understand is that I hate no one, I am angered with no one.  You are all hapless victims of a twisted society which has seen almost every human on the planet domesticated, and in this country, made into slaves.  I have been waking up from that nightmare for about a decade.  And I do my best to try to pull others out of that nightmare.  I got lucky.  I have always been quite serious about anything I attempt.  The very inspiration for my championing the cause of wolves, my trip to Stanley, Idaho in 1998, was only partly to photograph wild wolves - it was also to find ways to become one, to escape the nightmare I didn't fully realize I was living.  I drank from the pawprint of a wild wolf.  I drank from the stream wolves drank in.  I walked their paths, smelled their fur, their buried food at their rendezvous.  I immersed myself in their world in my vain attempt to become a part of it.  And along the way, I saw the way humans treat wolves, and immediately felt their torment.  Within 6 months, I was working in wolf recovery.  Within a year I had a goal.  And by the third year, I had already saved up a good chunk of change to pursue my goals.  I gave up a lot to help wolves,  and here I am, 40 years old, disabled, on welfare, living in subsidized housing, being tortured by state agencies around here - because I decided that living among people who live with and hate wolves daily was the best way to educate myself.  I have paid a heavy price, but it is a price I would pay over and over and over again to help wolves.

And while you have been fantasizing, role playing, pretending, and filling your life with superficial fantasies, I had to watch as wolves were killed around me - both while I lived in their territory in the summer of 2005, and when one was killed a quarter mile from where I sat in my home by an ignorant Idahoan.  I still have that wolf's fur by the way, and I still cry when I smell it, and see her blood on it.

And my life, what I do, is so far away from most of you, that you seem to fail to understand me, fail to understand my underlying passion.  I left the were community in 2000 in disgust, mostly at myself for believing that simply because someone said they were something I indentified with - prejudice, albeit the opposite of what most people consider to be prejudice.  I later entered the furry fandom, only to be cast out because I dared unravel the fabrications one of their own, a dangerous sociopath, had created for them.

But you see, your fantasies are quite easy to understand from my perspective, because I had them too.  Geeze folks, I took freakin LSD to try to see myself as a wolf in 1999.  Dangerous stuff that I spent years researching.  But I escaped the fantasy, mostly, but only because I realized the truth about life, the truth that you all know, but don't realize you know.  Why else do you think you have fantasies which take you so far from this society that you are no longer even human?

Please.  Ponder my words.  Ponder the criticism of Isafos (ignore any attacks - though I so far haven't read anything other than debate).  And please, try to see the truth, try to see that you are caught up in a life that isn't natural for humans, a life so unnatural that you want to escape it any way you can, even if its in your own mind, an escape you feel you have made with others who wish for the same escape.  And please also ponder why you react to Isafos as you do - because he threatens to unravel your fantasies, the only happiness you find.

I'm here for each and every one of you if you wish.  I am called on a path to be both what I seek, and to teach others.  This was observed by a native friend of mine, who also observed that I speak to wolves and understand them.  She sees the wolf in me, and has encouraged me to patiently learn, and to pass what I learn on to others.  I am not entirely ready to teach everything yet - because I don't know enough.  But I am always willing to help guide others who either don't know the path yet, or who have just started and need a guide.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Okay, been reading a little bit.  Isafos is just as guilty as the rest of you for not participating in debate.

But really.  Why are you afraid of a critic?  Why are you afraid to debate?  Why can't you let your thoughts be challenged?  Are your beliefs that fragile that they cannot hold up to a challenge, that you'd rather shoot the messenger, attack him, try to have him banned - rather than face your fantasies, your thoughts, your beliefs and defend them?

Please, consider it healthy to debate.  And don't attack someone personally because they challenge your beliefs.  Challenging your beliefs isn't a personal attack, its damn healthy.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Yeah, you're completely right. I'm guilty of not participating in the debate as much as you lot, but I've never been aware up until now that there actually was one. I came here, and the first thing that struck me was that you were all completely nutso, then, just immature, but it is true that I wasn't being fair when I joined in, and being fair does seem to be the unspoken rule for debates. But, in all 'fairness' neither have any of you been even remotely accepting of the possibility that it may be you guys that are wrong, not me. All you've been doing is championing it, constantly confirming it, but no one has ever shown me any proof or given me an intelligent reason to believe them, because yes, I am a skeptic. In a form of the word I was being facetious, true, my post was meant to be a joke because I thought it was all very dumb, and I still believe that teenlycan's 'reasoning' for him possibly being a werewolf is all utterly garbage, and as you could all see if you read my post, I could immediately assign each of his bulletpoints to known phenomenons.

I was trolling, yes. I was being facetious, yes. But I will not apologise for that, it was entirely prudent for me to troll in a topic that has been, up to this point, eight pages of pure, 100% percent 'werewolves are real' bias. It's like a Church, you all agree; teenlycan had no opinion of his own, so if he has no opposing critics, he's got no one to believe but you guys, and that is completely unhealthy and should not happen, ever. Now that I have trolled however, I would like to stop bashing you guys, and I would like for you guys to stop calling me 'blind' or treating me with bias and sarcasm, or doing what Werewolf Incomplete was doing and basically ignoring me entirely with a smile, making an unfounded comment about my social life, calling me blind and throwing in a threat--which is a very ignorant thing to do and are all things I've experienced when I wasted my time trying to debate with Christians--and just talk intelligently? I would honestly like to try if you people are also willing to try.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Awesome. My objection to your post was your extremely patronizing, attacking tone (you were the first to call people ignorant dude), and your assumption that you are the AUTHORITY on what's real and isn't.

Let me tell you where I'm coming from. I'm a werewolf fan, that's why I came here. I love the movies, I love the books, I love werewolf art. Awesome stuff. When I came I read about stuff that completely surprised me, stuff I'd never heard before. Folks actually calling themselves werewolves - therians. Sure, that seemed pretty weird to me, but unlike you I kept an open mind, kept things CIVIL and started poking around for more info so I could understand what the heck was going on.

Okay, so some folks feel like they've got an animal soul, have impulses that they attribute to wolves. Some folks actually have 'shifts', though I've not met one person on this board (who stayed anyhoo) who claim they actually physically change into an animal. For some it's a very spiritual thing, there are alot of pagans here. Shapeshifting is not a new idea of course.

I've had too many strange and interesting things happen to me, read too much of other peoples experiences that go beyond the norm (and this is outside of the whole 'werewolf' thing) to think of the world in the same black and white, the is right, this isn't, way you've blatantly vomited onto this forum. I've also had a couple of experiences, related to the whole werewolf thing, that give me pause, and make me open to the idea, if not quite accepting that I could be labelled as a therian. Personally, I think my love of werewolves stems from deep seated anger that I haven't properly expressed, and werewolves are WONDERFUL vehicles for expression. But I have no right to tell other people whether what they are feeling or thinking is 'true' or 'right', because I can never truly KNOW, because I'm not THEM.

You of course aren't alone. You're typically left brained rational, and scientific in your thinking. I'm actually surprised we haven't had more folks come on here and go 'WTF!?!'. But your approach was, as I said, quite ass whole-ish. And the spelling? This (as it's been rammed up my nose numerous times) is a G rated board. I try to avoid saying words like asshole, because inevitably someone'll come round and asterix it out. [and there's your cue Blue! wink ]

I couldn't have said it better, though Blue won't be around for a week because he's gone to some convention (that I know of)

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Fair enough. And yes, I do come here as a sceptic. I do not believe in ghosts, but I still wish to do field research on local 'haunted' places. I'm an atheist, and although that is an unwinnable argument, I will stick to it, as all of you will stick to your own gods, I have seen much proof that 'psychics' are magicians and scammers. There's nothing wrong with being a sceptic. It has nothing to do with how open my mind is. My mind is very open, and if someone can come up with a convincing argument for their belief, I'll happily give my own belief another look. Just because I look at things rationally doesn't mean I'm any less open minded than anyone here. It also doesn't mean I'm inherently more likely to be correct, we're all on essentially even ground, we just look at things from different perspectives.

So, you seem to be of the opinion that this pheonomena is mostly spiritual, with scattered but unconfirmed incidents suggesting there may possibly be something more to it, is that correct?

It also doesn't mean I'm inherently more likely to be correct, we're all on essentially even ground, we just look at things from different perspectives.

So, you seem to be of the opinion that this pheonomena is mostly spiritual, with scattered but unconfirmed incidents suggesting there may possibly be something more to it, is that correct?

I do agree with you to some degree. I do not believe in the 'supernatural apects' either, but when someone has an opinion, I'll only argue to a point, but even then, I'll do so respectfully.
I believe that what people feel (as in being a 'wolf' or 'werewolf') is reliant on the physological condition of the person. Some people may connect with their 'wolf side' because they use it as a means of escape from their reality, or perhaps they just have such a fasination with the wolf that they see themselves as one (They'll connect any seemingly abnormal behaviours to that of the wolf). If that makes any sense, though I'm sure there are numerous different reasons, but again, this is just my own opinion and is not to be taken harshly.

True, but at the same time I think were alot alike also.  You call yourself an athiest but in reality your not an atheist.  There is "NO" such thing.  Everyone believes in something, everyone has "faith" in something.
You say you are a sceptic and you really "believe" in your scepticism and so your "faith" lies in your logical thinking.  I find it hard to believe your an athiest.
You can ask the lowest demons in hell and you will see that they are no atheist.  But you don't believe in demons either.

The "pheonomena" can be different for any person that see's themselves as wolf-like.  Sometimes it's spiritual, mental, biological, or evolutionary.

Hmm....  I apologise if I sound a little blunt, I mean to be nice & respectful about the whole issue but it just came across to me that because you are an athiest, that you have a problem with the concept of werewolves or any other.
But, I may be wrong or misunderstanding things.  Correct me if that's the case.  Let us know where you stand.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

The differences is in how we interpret how we (Therians) are different from Mainstreamers. Rex interprets it as a necessary connection with wolves. I do not. I don't see it as having anything at all to do with wolves - but with simply what we are - Werewolves.

Also, Isafos is having the same (inescapable?) trouble that a lot of Mainstreamers have when they first encounter us - they can't get the movie image out of the way. Movie Werewolves have only been around less than a hundred years. The stereotype existed in literature, maybe, a hundred years before that. Werewolves, as a fact, have been around for thousands of years.

One thing that might be a little confusing is the fact that this is not a Werewolf (Therian) site - it's a site for werewolf fans. not everyone here - in fact, not everyone here that talks about being a Werewolf - is actually a Werewolf. they're not lying, and they'll gladly admit it when asked - they're just having fun with a role play. But that's one thing the site's for.

It's basically unrelated that there just happen to be some of us here that actually are Werewolves. Some of us are also fans of Werewolf movies and others realize that some Therians are drawn to sites like this and use it as a meeting place.
