Went up to see Strummer's dad tonight in hospital just outside of NYC. He's had some pretty major heart surgery done, but he's come out awesome, so it was great to see him in such good shape. Think being in the hospital stirred up some bad memories for me though. 
But! We saw the moon rise from his window, which was awesome, and it was over my shoulder the whole drive home, which I found very comforting. 
I could sit and stare at the moon all night long.

Went for a beautiful walk today out in a nearby state park, amidst tall poplars, elms and maples, where the leaves seem to hover, aflame, among the tall grey trunks. Took some paths I'd not walked before and ended up somewhere entirely new, spooking a doe at one point, who bounded off in powerful strides and disappeared into the trees bordering the meadow. Saw another deer, who didn't know what to make of me, and an owl flew overhead (which was, I gotta say - FREAKING AWESOME, though I think they're seen as omens of death by native americans? pretty appropriate as Strummer's nanna died around the time I was taking the walk 
).
Saw another group of deer as I finally made my way back to the parking lot, then turned to get into the car and saw the just past full moon rising over the trees - incredibly huge, and almost golden. I was there after park closing, it was dusk, the deer were starting to venture out into the human areas and noone else was around - definitely a magic kinda time. Thought I'd share.
