Full Moon Rituals

Do you practice any full moon rituals, do you do anything special for the full moon?

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I go out in my fields and play with my dogs,be all wolf like and such. It's best in the winter cause I can play hardcore and not worry about getting hurt,it's also one of the most beautiful nights.I stay up extra late, just listening to the night and being as wolf as possible.

Any ritual of positive nature. More efficient it seems...

I used to go out and howl for about a half hour when I was little, then these weird neighbors moved in and started howling back...in a mocking way!

Too many people. The best thing I can do is go for a walk in a vacant field and howl lowly sad.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I usually am use to staying up all night because of third shift working and Howl at night very early in the morning as the sun comes up on full moons or other nights but here lately it's been too cold for me to stir outside too long.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I wonder what kind of full moon rituals one may carry out? I remember trying to write a short story about it one time...

One time, I remember reading a special ritual that was supposed to turn one into a werewolf online. I think the site no longer exists, but what happened was, one put together some kind of salve or ointment, which was created from various herbs and hallucinogens. I clearly remember ergot and belladonna(deadly nightshade). I've read that belladonna is a very strong hallucinogen, which can sometimes cause nightmarish hallucinations. So one takes off ones clothes, puts on a belt made of wolf's fur ( I think there is another name for that) and rubs the salve on in a ritualistic fashion. Of course one could do that before the moon...

But that ritual, or any kind of fantasy of a ritual in turning into a werewolf seems to emphasize that mystical/erotic quality I see in the werewolf. A man takes off his clothing, and lays himself bare before the moon, that entrancing light in which one may undergo a partial dissolution of self, and the transgressions or sacred losing of oneself is bound up with the werewolf.

Too bad I don't live out in the woods...but I would imagine building a fire in a circle of trees, stripping, and running some kind of sensory enhancing salve over my body, dancing around the fire, taking entranced glances at the moon...putting the fire out with water really fast, and standing on top of the smoke which dances around my body, and then watching that smoke meld the moon in my sight, as I am passed into a melding delirium myself.

But it is a ritual that you can do on the night of the full moon.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

Indeed it is. But you, do you anything special at the full moon? Because it's not only magical rituals. It can be a habit or anything you do precisely at the full moon.

Right, kick ass. Well, don't want to sound like a dick or nothin', but, ah... it says on your chart that you're gently caressed up. Ah, you talk like a cigarette, and your shite's all retarded. What I'd do, is just like... like... you know, like, you know what I mean, like...

The topic is Full Moon Rituals, and Batailleros was describing a full moon ritual. Quite poetically too I thought, though that kind of thing wouldn't work for me. wink

Yes, and that kind of thing would be illegal and dangerous as far as your health and mental health.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

On Full Moons...I go out on late night walks.  I let the primal side influence me more than usual, even in public.  ...not sure what else afterwards.

The Full Moon to humans is just a rock; The Full Moon to me is a symbol of freedom and release
A Howl to humans scare them; A Howl to me is a harmonious song...
And I Howl back.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I tend to dance. *shrug* As much in the outdoors as I can, though I often cannot be there... light a circle of candles, open my windows as far as they will go, and perform the dances I've learned since childhood.

When that's through, I'll generally run, howl, visit my lifemate... stuff like that.

I don't think I could tell a mocking howl from an actual howl. :headtilt:

Yes, I always do my Rituals during the Full Moon. I find it more effective.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I used to do full moon rituals regularly. For one thing I was in a coven for years and there was always a ritel. But even on my own I used to always do a little something to align with the phase of the moon, honor what it means to me, etc.

For quite a few years since I lost a great deal of my spirituality and have only recently come back to it. I will probably do a full moon ritual tonight, but not sure what yet. Something to honor a return to spirit, to leave behind forever the feeling of being forsaken since I came to a better understanding of some things in my life.

Re: Full Moon Rituals

I'm going through a forsaken phase at the moment... trying to get my stuff together and work out some stuff.

Out of curiousity, what sort of things are involved in your rituals (if not a secret! big_smile ) Like incense or meditation or something?
