The other weres I know.

To be frank, most people, even if they believe in werewolves, do not believe in the possible existence of other forms of wereanimals. However, I know or am connected personally to at least three other were-beasts: the weresnakes, werebears, and werecougars. So who is there to say that others do not exist?

If you know of/are another type, please tell me; I would enjoy knowing that there is more out there.

Re: The other weres I know.

Well, the SEHowl that I organize regularly has Werecoyotes, Werebears, Werecougars, Weredogs, Werelions, Weredragons, Weretigers, Werefoxes, and Wereracoons. We have had Weredeer, Werehousecats, Weresnakes, Werepanthers, and I'm probably missing something. and I've just met a Werepanda who lives close to me. I've also run into some Werecorvids and Wererabbits. I'm even wondering about the possibility of Wereprimates and even Werehumans, but that's sorta controversial right now pending a little more research and cogitation by the community mind.

Yes, I'm not entirely certain what you mean by 'werehumans' either...

Re: The other weres I know.

Not really, which is why it's controversial.

Some (and maybe, potentially, all) Therians can identify other Therians by intuition. Some of us have noted that there are rare "nonTherians" who set off the alarms. So we're either reacting to Therianism in nonTherians, for some reason, or what we're reacting to never was Therianism in the first place - maybe some characteristic(s) that are common in Therians. But if what Therians are is a specific kind of Human with certain physiological distinctions (and not particularly a person who is, in some way, nonHuman), then a Werehuman wouldn't be all that strange. It all depends on what Therians turn out to be.

Re: The other weres I know.

Some Therians don't turn - they're always their Therianside. They're called contherianthropes. There are a lot of characteristics that Therians share other than their nonhuman nature.

It's sorta like the fact that some people (I'm one of them) have migraines without the headache - they're called acephalic migraines. All Therians share certain tendencies but any individual doesn't manifest them all. The nonhuman identity is only one - the theory is that some Therians do not manifest that one characteristic.

That'd be a weredog wink   A werehuman is like saying 'man human'. So if you took that literally it could mean any human who turns into a man. big_smile Which could be interesting for tha ladies.

Re: The other weres I know.

An eartly nourris sits and sing,
And aye she sings, Ba, lily wean!
Little ken I my bairnis father,
Far less the land that he staps in.
Then she arose at her bed-fit,
An a grumly guest I’m sure was he:
‘Here am I, thy bairnis father,
Although that I be not comelie.
I am a man, upon the land,
     An I am a silkie in the sea;
And when I’m far and far from land,
My dwelling is in Sule Skerrie.’
It was na weel,’ quo the maiden fair,
‘It was na weel, indeed,’ quo she,
‘That the Great Silkie of Sule Skerrie
Suld hae come and aught a bairn to me.’
Now he has taen a purse of gold,
And he has pat it upon her knee,
Sayin, Gie to me my little young son,
An tak thee up thy nourris-fee.
An it shall come to pass on a simmer’s day,
When the sun shines het on evera stane,
That I will tak my little young son,
An teach him for to swim the foam.
An thou shall marry a proud gunner,
An a proud gunner I’m sure he’ll be,
An the very first schot that ere he schoots,
He’ll schoot baith my young son and me.

I don't expect I got all the spelling right but you can look it up for the rest.

Re: The other weres I know.

Ah, well, in some folklore, they lure beautiful maidens to their homes under the sea. Of course, said beautiful maidens, not being sea creatures, immediately drown.

Noble? It's according to who's telling the tale, I guess.
