Black metal

Anyone know this 'evil' side of metal? No, its not metal performed by black people. It is style of metal that inclused mysterious and dark tones of destruction.

For a good example listen to Black Metal Radio (www.blackmetalradio.com), but keep in mind that not every black metal is as good as the other.

Some bands to keep in mind:

Dimmu Borgir
Emperor
Limbonic Art
Borknagar
Naglfar

And ofcourse, there are a lot of black metal bands with werewolf-lyrics! Just for 'werewolves' of 'lycanthropy' and you should get a whole list of (black) metal bands. smile

Re: Black metal

nattens madrigal is genius!! Do you know the book "Lords of Chaos"? There is a good interview with Ulver talking about wolf & werewolves. :-)
Ulver also made a soundtrack for a norwegian werewolf movie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNvlQ4LRtqY ( I don`t like the movie, but the music! Its more experimentell & electronic, so no black metal anymore)

As you mentioned there are a lot of Black Metal songs about werewolfs:

Temnozor - Werwolf (very good black metal band from Ukraine with folk influences)
Satanic Warmaster - The Burning Eyes of the Werewolf (sounds very underground)
Gehenna - Werewolf (Gehenna is cool, athmospheric midtempo black metal)
Satans Elite Kommando - Werwolf, Dämon der Nacht (stupid name, stupid music, but somehow funny ;-))
Beherit - Werewolf, Semen and Blood (Beherit is underground & sick. eerie, dark & very evil)
...

In brief, we are all monsters, that is a composition of man and beast.

Re: Black metal

Kveldsanger is a good neofolk album. If you like this cd, you should check out Empyrium (with Schwadorf from the vision bleak) with their album "Where at night the wood grouse plays" from germany.

they have also some more powerfull songs:

Re: Black metal

If you like Empyrium & Black Metal you should listen to "Sun of the sleepless". It is also a project of Schwadorf....
http://www.myspace.com/sotsleepless

They have made my favourite Black Metal Song "Tausend Kalte Winter"...you can listen & downloads the songs on the myspace site.
The band name "sun of the sleepless" is from a Byron poem about the moon:

Sun of the Sleepless! melancholy star!
Whose tearful beam glows tremulously far,
That show’st the darkness thou canst not dispel,
How like art thou to Joy remembered well!
So gleams the past, the light of other days,
Which shines but warms not with its powerless rays:
A night-beam Sorrow watcheth to behold,
Distinct, but distant – clear – but, oh, how cold!

In brief, we are all monsters, that is a composition of man and beast.

Re: Black metal

I don't know a lot of the bands you mentioned, but Cradle of Filth is black metal... they mention wolves and werewolves a good deal.

Re: Black metal

Here's probably a good an introduction as any. The documentary is a failure in terms of an interview, but the scenery is fantastic, and it provides a little bit of insight on one of the better Black Metal bands.

True Norwegian Black Metal

It's segment one of five segments, which you should be able to find the others on the playlist.

Other than that, I like this band, and also a band called Destroyer666, and a few others.

Re: Black metal

I was wondering if you heard about Moonspell. There's a song about wolves : Moonspell :Wolfshade (a Werewolf Masquerade)
"She brought the Night hidden in her sad Wolf eyes
The perfume of a twilight, her strongest scent
Half Wolf, Half female - what a strange wedding
Mother Nature has offered us to see..."

" I will howl for you, human boy, she thought. I will hunt you in my girl skin but I'll celebrate as a wolf. "

Re: Black metal

Metallica does not suit this topic, they are not a black metal band. You do not get/post the songs on this site. If you want to talk about wolves, move over to another forum area and please don't revive ancient threads.
