Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

Thanks again big_smile ...

here's the almost-complete picture. Just some OCD stuff and I need to decide on a background before I even think of coloring it.

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

Superb drawing, Howlitzer!

A background? Hmmmmmmmm.... Well, judging by the way that you're crouched down close to the ground, may I suggesting putting a surfboard under you and have yourself riding the waves.

That would make a certain white-furred werewolf happy! wink

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

Amazing!

Let me tell you one tip: Next time you wear the mask, put on some brown makeup around your eyes so your pink skin don't spoil the werewolf effect.

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

yeah, I know. I didn't have brown makeup though, and I was just putting it on to see if it fit correctly.

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

Wicked!  I've seen werewolf masks for sale which don't look that cool.  Is it latex?  Papier mache'?

Thanks big_smile

it's largely crayola model magic (that foam-clay stuff)....

the teeth/framework of the mask is friendly plastic...

and the fur was put together with those $4 squares of fur you can get at A.C. Moore...

oh...and there's a couple sticks of hot glue, metal clothes hangers, and stretchy fabric book covers holding it together as well...

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

Very cool dude smile I have one suggestion - looking at the step by step suit Arclight posted a link to - she glued fur to the face, all over - muzzle, brow, etc, then she shaved it down and it looked very natural.

Thanks big_smile

but yeah...I thought about doing that... there are several reasons why I didn't:

-I already painted the mask....and that's kinda how my mask is supposed to look... If it looks a bit unnatural or shiny in the pictures, keep in mind that's with a camera flash. It does not look like that in normal lighting, and it looks much, much better in low lighting (which is the most likely situation you'd wear it in).

-If I glued fur on it, i can't glue it on the flexible part of the jaw because it's silicone...and not even crazy glue sticks to silicone. So i'd have a random bald patch on either side. Not good.

-If I glue pieces of fur fabric on the face, the jaw won't move without the fabric wrinkling noticably due to the way the jaw is constructed on my mask, unlike the one Arclight posted.

-I don't have enough fur fabric, nor do I wish to figure out how to fold the fabric over the details of the mask as it is now hmm

So yeah...the most I may be able to do is to glue some thin bits of fur on more parts of the face if I trim it off of the leftover fur fabric first. I'm still trying to find the right kind of glue to do that, since hot glue is only good for doing that on the edges of the hair line. But, in terms of completely covering the face with fur.... it worked with the mask design Arclight posted, but it just doesn't work with my mask design.

Re: Howlitzer's werewolf art

here's a video!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=snI_YKmwgDM

per montana's suggestion (sorta) I added (and am adding) a bit of fur to the face. I already added some to the top of the snout and the hairline, you can't really see it in the video though.

and I'll try to have some new drawings soon.
