Can a Minotaur be called a "Were"?

While there have been some stories about a man changed into a bull by a spell and likewise...what about the ones that have been changed half-way? Always shown as a bull head on a human man, they're known as Minotaurs?
But can one be called a "were"?

What do you think?

Re: Can a Minotaur be called a "Were"?

I don't know why not..........half wolf half humans are Werewolves.

Actually, the original minotaur in the myth wasn't changed into that. He was born that way. His mother was the Minos' wife and his father was a bull.

RL bovine Therians (or the one's I've run into) don't call themselves Minotaurs - they used to be likely to call themselves Werebulls or Werecows but the Were terminology has sorta fallen into disrepute, so I don't know what they're calling themselves now (frankly, it's sorta hard to keep up with what I'm supposed to be calling myself).

So a Minotaur is a creature who was born that way while werebulls were people that had been transformed into a half human/half bulls?

Re: Can a Minotaur be called a "Were"?

Well, Werebulls are analogous to Werewolves so Werebulls would exist in the same way that Werewolves exist - if Werewolves are born that way, then so are Werebulls; but if Wereism is the result of some event in a person's life like a spell or a curse, then Werebulls would operate under the same rules. The major difference would be that Minotaurs are originally the result of a bovine mating with a human where Werebulls are not. Also, Minotaurs don't shift; most Werebulls would have some kind of shift (Some Therians are contherianthropes who do not shift).

Or, wereism could be hereditary.

Actually, Minotaurs can be counted as werecreatures. The half man/half bull that we are fimilure with is their inbetween stage of being compleatly human or compleatly bull.

Werecreatures have the ability to shift at will ..... a minotaur only has one form. I would have to say no. If it was a were-bull, or something like that, where the person could shift into a minotaur form, then yes. Otherwise, no. That is my opinion, though ...

Then I go home to think of new ways to chase Confused while eating a veggie dinner. Than I finally retire to bed and dreams of chasing you-know-who." wink
