Re: Medieval Werewolf Hunts

well i do know allot of things about the hunts. in europe is where it mainly started. all of these hunts came from the roman catholic church aka the vatican. people worship the church so much that they started 2 believe everything they say and from their the church told them that their was evil in these lands. so people started 2 make mobs and hunters 2 kill these monsters. i don't know why but sometimes i don't trust my own religion  (catholic) sometimes i have this feeling their hiding something from us.

Oh and all those exorcsim when people believe their love 1's where poses by the devil where just people on crack. so mainly they just kill innocent people.

Re: Medieval Werewolf Hunts

Maybe in some primitive areas, but I think most civilised countries have laws against that. China/Japan/Australia/North America/Britain I think you would have no problem whatsoever. Although, there is a Klu Klux Klan still around, and if a bunch of hyper christian murdering southerners can exist like they can, you may have yourself a problem.

Law-abiding citizens? No. But a bunch of partially-inbred southerners? If there is a will, they will find the way.

Well in the old times, the bread and potatos were laced with LSD, not crack. They figured it made it taste better. It was part of the reason why people hought they were werewolves in the first place. big_smile

Pfft. Don't worry about it. I'm more likely to be burned at the stake for being an atheist.

If you're a black atheist, consider yourself boned.

Re: Medieval Werewolf Hunts

That's a theory, Freddie, and not a very good one, either. You see, there's very little difference between a 'therapeutic" and a lethal dosage of ergot. In other words, ergot kills, it doesn't make people think their neighbors are turning into Werewolves. Further, that would not explain the earlier traditions.

The theory doesn't suggest that people intentionally took ergot - they got it in the bread because it was a specific disease of wheat.

Sorry i meant that not crack. well anyways once they started 2 hallucinate they started 2 see things or do things that r out of the ordinary. people put their beliefs 1st than rather putting their own faith 1st on their love 1s 2 see if their not sick.

Re: Medieval Werewolf Hunts

No, if they were poisoned by ergot, they wouldn't live to tell what they hallucinated. Now lead would be a different matter - that would kill more slowly. You know they used to think that tomatoes were poison? They used to use pewter serving platters and the acid in the tomatoes would leach the lead out of the pewter and poison people. Maybe Werewolves are a product of tomato poisoning......

You do realize that there's absolutely no substantial evidence that ergot poisoning lead to the development of any particular folklore at all? And considering that it wouldn't explain Werewolf lore in a lot of nomadic cultures, it's not even a very powerful theory. Anthropologists sometimes grasp at straws......

Regardless of the fact that most Therians express dismay at not having other Therians around them - if they only knew, most Therians can't swing a dead cat without hitting another Therian.

Re: Medieval Werewolf Hunts

Did...did you say Piedmont?  I thought that was a random name that my friend made up for a plastic dinosaur in our French class.  Piedmont is now her nickname.  That is weird.

And by the way, I know three therians that aren't on this site.
