looking for good werewolf books

Hi I've been looking for a few good werewolf books even since seeing the ginger snaps trilogy and blood and chocolate i've been on amazon and narrowed down a short list here's what i have so far

Ghost hunter-Michelle Paver (not really werewolves but it's about wolves & i've read the first 5)
Wilding Nights-Lee Killough
Killing moon-Rebecca York
Blood and Chocolate-Annette Curtis Klause(i've heard it's much better than the movie)
Shadow of the Beast-Margaret L. Carter

any one got anything else to add?
I'd really prefer if the main character was a female but i'll give anything a try
oh and i'd also prefer if the Lycanthropy was genetic in the story and not a virus transfered by a bite.

any help will be much apreciated thank you

Amy xx

Re: looking for good werewolf books

You may try Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson books (starts with Moon Called), although the lead is a walker ( a Coyote Shifter) it has a lot to do with werewolves.

Also Kelley Armstrong's Elena Michaels books (Bitten, Stolen, Broken)

Whitley Strieber's The Wild is worth checking, not a female lead and not a 'true' werewolf novel but it's a great read.

If you enjoy Rebecca York you should also give Lori Handeland's Blue Moon a try (although her werewolves do spread via bite).

Re: looking for good werewolf books

Oh..you gotta read Carrie Vaughn's books. Start with "Kitty and the Midnight Hour."

Easily my favorite werewolf series going.

"How lonely is the night without the howl of a wolf."
"Werewolves are BAD ASS." - Dean Winchester
Buckaroo Banzai - Highlander - Kolchak - Buffy - Doc Savage
