I thought that compared to most werewolf films that make werewolves look like over sized rats rather than wolves, The Wolfman did a decent job. Having said that, I still enjoy the more type of Blood and Chocolate feel to a werewolf film where there is more of an underlying truth about werewolves and doesn't focus mainly on excessive slayings. I give the Wolfman a 3.5 out of 5.
I don't agree with you with that "underlying truth". We are talking about werewolves, so if I say that werewolves are green and wear red boots, so it is. Werewolves belong to many mythologies and folklore from all around the world. And yes there are some similarities but you cannot find common issues between them. So there is no truth, visible or not, just tales and tradition.
I see that you prefer man-wolves who change in sparks of ligth. Good for you, it's a nice and cute view of the werewolves, but myself I prefer some more dark approachs.

I like my werewolves DARK AND MURDEROUS! BUWAHAHAHAHHAHA!
*cough*
Anyway, I really like Wolfman. And the werewolves were a great throwback to the original. I'm glad that they didn't change them too much.

Anybody know what song Sir John was playing on the piano at the end of the movie?

Agree. The premise, or 'underlying truth' behind the werewolves of Blood and Chocolate was very interesting. The Wolfman's just a blender, he has no purpose save to embody human fears.
Now I likes me some blenderizin', I've got no problem with disembowelments, heads being ripped/ swiped off, organs being eaten, gushing arteries and torn or ripped limbs (did anyone else get the feeling that some of these folk's limbs were velcro'd on?), I just like a little more MEAT to my werewolves, than what they portrayed in this flic. Pardon the pun

Quite literally the gayest(and I don't mean gayest as in bad, I mean gayest as in homosexual) and dumbest werewolf transformation I have ever seen.
A bunch of shirtless boy-whores and gone wild college coeds fancy-glowing themselves into ACTUAL wolves. Almost as bad as the shite in Twilight.
And dear god. None of them know how to run. Yeah, arms at your sides, backs straight. A lot of humming and shushing and aerial acrobatics for no reason. Real gently caressing intimidating.

Mmm... whereas I enjoyed the simple transition from human to wolf, even if it did come with a skittles rainbow. Then again, I like the idea that being a werewolf doesn't mean you have to be DARK!! and really DARK! and ANGRY! and, and RAR VIOLENT JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE GOT BIG TEEF!!

How old are you?
And yeah, being a werewolf does mean you have to be a savage beast that kills humans.

Nope. I believe someone up the top there said something about there being no real 'underlying truth' to the werewolf genre. So if I say that werewolves don't have to be mindless human-mulching freaks, they don't have to be.
They just 'have to be' people who turn into wolves. And even then, folks have taken lots of liberties with that concept. What YOU can say is that you like 'em raw and nasty. Ya can't tell me what they should be like.
Well, okay, you can, but I'll just post stuff like this again and you won't end up changing my mind at all.

Yeah, you can't be much older than 15.

It does kind of suck. And the guy running like this:

Made me laugh. XD
The transformation wasn't so bad as the people doing the transforming. I don't have a problem with the graceful WHOOSH I'm a wolf thing, but those actors . . . My God . . .

Also:
Since I'm supposed to be writing a comparison on the art of the Northern and Southern Renaissance, I was scrolling through this post and would like to reply to the whole "like/dislike Wolfman blah blah blah" thing.
Wolfman had its flaws - plenty of them - but it was still a great movie. To me, how great a movie is isn't about the box office numbers or the plot flaws or the last-minute editing.
Did I enjoy the movie and have fun watching it? Hell yes. So, to me at least, it was a great movie.
That's me, though. I'm sure there are many people who disagree.

After I put all my info in, it just went to a white screen and that was it. Didn't give me any kind of confirmation.

I enjoyed this film quite a bit. The werewolves were kept to the original Wolfman in appearance. My friends weren't a fan of that, but I liked it.
I've recited the poem at the start a lot...to the point of irritating my friends with it.
Pretty good film overall! Especially since the mansion that was in the film, isn't too far from me! Chatsworth House!

Really? Dude, that's cool!!

Has anyone heard the soundtrack (other than in the movie)?
I just bought it, and the Wolf Suite . . . Il est incroyable!

I have yet to get soundtrack... give me time though... and money. I DID however download tid-bit examples that though, are amazing, sound very much like the Harry Potter (PoA) soundtrack... O.o

Twilight bashing? Roi smells fun...
But I'll leave that aside since most should know how much I despise pussypires.
Blood and Chocolate had much potential... good characters, decent villains, nice plot... sadly it just ended up with a bunch of shifters being werewolf wannabes.
