Mammoth Book of Werewolves / Wolfmen

Just picked up THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF WOLFMEN which is the old MAMMOTH BOOK OF WEREWOLVES with a new title and cover which looks like they're hoping to cash in on any spillover biz from the upcoming WOLFMAN movie. More power to them, I say.

At first glance it looks the same as the previous edition save for the addition of Neil Gaiman's "Only the End of the World Again."

Re: Mammoth Book of Werewolves / Wolfmen

that's not the "Wolf Man" movie picture cover right? that's just a Wolfman they did for this cover? (It's cool either way).

ahhhhh man that sucks if they just changed the name. I have the mammothe book of werewolves. (Only three good stories so far and they were moreso wolf werewolf stories.)

It's definitely "inspired" by the 'Wolfman' look, that's for sure.

That's an awesome cover. I've seen the image somewhere before, but I can't recall where.

Oh goody!
I never got "The Mammoth Book", yay for second chances!

The cover looks more like a touched up "Wolverine" picture to me.

I have seen this book floating around. What are your opinions on the content? Are the short stories any good?

Ha! Very much influenced by Rick Baker's work.

Kinda looks like Brian Blessed with fangs. big_smile

Oh I bought that a week or so ago. Definitely good value for the money.

If you want a variety in werewolf myths then this book is for you. I only liked three stories and some of the intros to some of the stories made me skip them. I actually like the new cover vs. the previous version (sorry a werewolf mullet doesn't work for me.)

yeah but you might like this. I only like Wolfman types or the kind like that STephen King movie. There was one story that was scary which is prettttttyyyyy similar to what happened in American Werewolf in London except imagine it's you, you're drunk and walking home and something is following you (like a dog, but it's not, perhaps a lion or cougar, that's a scarier scenario) it was something like that. Very scary. I liked this one.

there's another story where werewolves have taken over like a king's palace maybe or something like that. That was kinda interesting.
