Looks rather like a small starved bear with mange to me.  Any other possibilities?

Me too.  Poor thing.  Mange mites make one itch terribly.

Re: Werewolf corpse?

Probably scratched off -- mange'll do that.  Makes you so itchy you dig yourself raw.

Re: Werewolf corpse?

the fur is gone because it's all decomposed and then washed away by the river but i'm really not sure about those teeth they look rather like those of a big tiger but then i never actually had a proper look inside a bears oral cavity not the sort of thing i do so i'm gona look it up and come back to it.

Re: Werewolf corpse?

i don't know i looked up a grizzly bear skull on google those teeth seem to big and the body too small in comparison to be a grizzly but i'm no expert where was that taken? somebody having us on?! or it's a grizzly with very large teeth.

The Cascades (so I assume Florida) according to the site.  After a creature dies the gums recede, making the teeth look larger (a possible root of vampire lore).  Bears have similar dentition to humans' and pigs', just on a different scale.

Re: Werewolf corpse?

It is a black bear. The reason its fur is gone is that all animals lose their fur as the decompose. (trust me I love to look at roadkill and see it all the time) Add to that the constant flow of river water, and you have a nearly bald bear. I think this is not full grown though. Adult bears do not have such pointed teeth. They tend to dull and develop more rounded tips. I would saw a "teenage" bear, that was either killed by a larger, male bear, shot for the fun of it by a hunter that did not want to drag it from the river, or just a dumb bear the drowned during a flood, and this was the end result.

I find it a little strange though that some fisherman is standing there fishing all casual next to that thing. Decomposition at the point would smell so effin' foul he couldn't possibly be so close to it without having some major issues. I think he was photoshopped in for effect. If not, he has a nose like a rock!

Re: Werewolf corpse?

I think he is walking past (note the wake around his feet).  And his nose does look pretty scrunched up.
