Thanks Busboy Yay!
Saw the first eppy, will watch the series while gnashing teeth. It's not bad, just not as intense as the British version (so far). Cool vamp dude though. Ghost is kinda limp, but she might get better. George dude is fine, watchable, and every time I see him I think he should be wearing a little bowtie (ala his appearance as Jimmy Olsen in the Superman movie).

Seriously, when is this show airing? I can't find the listings for it.

all the ads have said so far is january. the first episode was on syfy's website "for press purposes". don't get it, but was glad to see it this far in advance. I haven't heard them specify which day in january it'll be officially premiering though

Well, I saw the transformation scene for the new series in the other Being Human thread, and I've got to say that it wasn't quite as horrible as I was expecting. It still paled in comparison to the original, but it didn't make me want to claw my eyes out. Now, on the other hand I have the sinking feeling that they're going to go with the "twu wuff!" approach.
If they do, expect me to have not nice words about this show.

Yeah to be honest the transformation wasn't the CGI cringe inducing mess that I've come to expect from this network. It has some potential, but they need to show a bit more to convince me of that.
I also read that the guy who's playing the werewolf in the show said he's gone through several hours of makeup for the transformation scenes, so that gives me the possibility that maybe we'll be seeing some old school effects with this in upcoming episodes.

I was not really all that impressed with it.

Why can't you guys write your own shows? I mean, no offence, but first The Office, now this?

wowwww, so I was watching tele in the kitchen (no cable) and SAW a scyfy tv spot of this. It looked COOL so hopefully they change the mood of this show from the British version. Americanize it some.
yeah so, they're putting money into this. NEVER have I seen a tv trailer for a show on the scyfy channel on basic tv channels.

I've seen the first episode (someone posted a link to the first episode on the net). I'don't like it... they don't offer something better than the british show, and added to this, the CGI effects are terribly L-A-M-E. C'mon guys, haven't you ever heard about animatronics?

Its still a bit early in the game to to judge this show IMO. I have to say the the vampire stuff being the primary story line is not really to my liking but I guess we'll have to see how storyline progresses....
Anybody seen any episode outlines or other leaked material that might a give a preview of whats to come?

Why do you NEED to Americanize a great show? It's great as it is! You never see the British trying to do their own version of Family Guy, do you? That's cause we know when something is good enough to leave alone.

Ah we are kinda past the why is it being done phase...
As its here might as well watch, comment etc.

Never saw the original, but I do find the new one alright to watch. I found it neat when Josh m-shifted and strangled the tagger nearly to death.

Well I'm not. I haven't watched it but I've only heard bad things from people who have.

Digged that scene as well!
Did you catch that the previews showed Josh meeting a older werewolf?

So Roy's an asshole with a violent hatred for vampires. Who didn't see that coming?

One thing I can say for tonight: predictable.

I do tend to agree. Seems like they gave away too much in the previews....

Seems like a major cliche in werewolf fiction:
When there's another werewolf sought out to find you and tries to be your mentor, there's a good chance he's your "were-daddy."

Really? I've read alot of werewolf fiction and that's actually never come up. Haven't read all of it though. Watching the first go at it on Being Human BBC it was a surprise to me. (and soooo well done - the american version felt so... emotionally flat in comparison)
Which is one reason why this American series feels predictable (it's literally all been done before!). Although, I have to say, there've been some interesting little tweaks and deviations from the Brit show. I still don't like it as much as the original (genius, bow bow grovel, bow etc), but I'm glad they're trying to do something (even a tiny bit!) new.

Of course it feels predictable, since we've seen it before from the first season of the original. But I do find it interesting to see their take or their version of the original characters and situations. And I'm also glad that they're doing small tweaks and twists of new stuff.
There's still about 8 or so episodes left in the season, so I'm interested to see if they'll be adding more twists as things progress.

Please take into consideration that I never saw the original let alone have BBC.

Well actually I was responding to WolfMontana's comment, not yours.
