Re: german weerwolf db and tion you need to see this

From another forum topic that was deleted (since this one already existed):

bloodlust wrote:

According to legend.Wittlich was the last town in Germany where a werewolf was killed, but it would appear that something very much in the werewolf tradition still stalks the area.
D.L.Ashliman,author of Werewolf Legends from Germany, received the following account from a respondant who first learned of the legend while he was stationed at Hahn Airforce Base c. 1988.Morbach is a munitions site just outside the village of Wittlich:There is a shrine just outside of the town where a candle always burns.
Legend has it that if the candle ever goes out,the werewolf will return. One a group of security policemen were on the way to their post at Morbach when they noticed that the candle was out at the shrine. They all joked about the monster.
Later that night, alarms were received from a fence-line sensor. When the security policemen investigated the call, one of them saw a huge"dog-like" animal stand up on its back legs, look at them, and jump over the seven-and-a-half-foot chain-like fence. A millitary working dog was brought to the spot where the creature was last seen, and the dog went nuts, not wanting anything to do with tracking the creature.

Re: german weerwolf db and tion you need to see this

This legend is quite interesting. I always enjoy it when they spill over into the modern world. In a way, be the legend true or false, it keeps a stronger tie to the past. The legends of old, never really become old for they are always new the first time someone hears them. I think it would be neat to head to a place with a legend like that and be able to see how it is told, and still believed in somewhat.

In brief, we are all monsters, that is a composition of man and beast.
