It's not everything you could hope for, but it has its moments.

Thanks for the tip Werefan. You're right--it's nowhere as bad as I thought it would be. The werewolf hunters are still pretty stupid (and anachronistic), and the ending is a cynically designed cop-out to make room for sequels, but in between there's some good material, and you can see how the material sprang from The Wolfman. The werewolf is CGI but wisely often kept in the shadows, and there's a decent reversion transformation.

I will have to check this one out, although i really don't like the idea of cgi werewolves.

I really enjoyed this movie, an action-packed and twisty B movie with solid period costumes and sets, filmed in Romania. I basically saw it as "The Magnificent Seven" with a werewolf plaguing the town instead of bandits. Just posted my review at http://freedomshammer.wordpress.com.

I was surprised by this movie. Thought it was going to be horrendously sucky, but it turned out to be a bit of fun, with a decent werewolf animation and transformation

The few shots of the practical werewolf effects were quite good. Sadly the CGI version wasn't quite as well designed.
The movie itself was decent enough, though it feels overly/badly edited. There were things hinted at that were never expanded on, potential plot points never explored, and the utterly needless and out-of-the-blue inclusion of something I can't name without spoilers. The ending also felt a little lack-luster, leaving a pretty notable plot point dangling.
I'd be interested in seeing a Director's Cut, in the hopes that there was more to the story that was left out for whatever reason. A novelization may be interesting too, where it could have more room to go into detail for these things.

The TF sequences I think were quite good in this one, as far as CGI goes. I just wish they had shown more of the female werewolf at the beginning...she had less than a minute of screen time.

I liked it. It was a decent werewolf movie compared to some of the others that have been released in the last few years.
