Actually, I'm wrong. I was confusing the term with "hypercarnivore".
We are fairly sure that Neanderthals are still in our blood because we can recognize their DNA in ours. For instance, in addition to the Human Genome Project, there is now a Neanderthal Genome Project. Also, the latest version of the Genograph project not only maps the migration of our human ancestors but is also mapping the migration of our Neanderthal ancestors.
