I can't believe it! Anne Rice (one of my favorite authors) has written a book about a werewolf! She is back into the gothic and horror genre world of literature with her new book called The Wolf Gift, coming out on February 14 (valentine's day). I am extremly happy because it is Anne Rice who wrote Interview with the Vampire, The Witching Hour, Angel Time, and many more. If it is from Anne Rice herself then it will be awesome, you can count on it!

I read about this new upcoming book. By coincidence, Anne's Sister, Alice Borchardt, used to write about werewolves too and Alice's books are a werewolf trilogy that is out in print.

I had no idea Alice Borchardt was Anne Rice's sister! Holy crap
Excited about the upcoming werewolf book from Rice - I loved the first 3 vampire books. Hopefully no fop werewolves though.

Yeah, I know. At first most people thought she was going to continue her sister's work, but no it's her own work as she calls her werewolf "Man Wolf."
And here's a video about her book, as she herself explains about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmM0H1yUExc

...as with so many other new books by previously interesting authors who "went away" then came back to the field they were best loved in, Anne Rice's "The Wolf Gift" is getting no middle-of-the-road, "Well, it's kind of OK." reviews that I can find. Either the reviewers are doing back flips and howling for sheerest joy, or they're snorting in derision and lifting a leg. I will be waiting until a local library gets a hardcover, then sitting down by candlelight to see whether it's back to the good stuff, or if she's been curdled by all that organized religion silliness. I'm hoping that this first book isn't just a "furry Batman" as the "lift a leg" reviewers have been growling. I'll make up my own mind, as always.

I'm reading the second book. It continues in the same vein (which I'm actually enjoying but which doesn't strike me as horror - more like romance (in the old sense of the word) and I figure that's why the leg lifters don't like it.) But, yes, furry Batman - but Batman doesn't eat people.
