Re: Wolves

15 Things We Learned About David Hayters Wolves
at Comic-Con

http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/1 … Rejects%29

There will be no snouts in this film. Hayter had his Academy Award winning SFX team, the same ones behind the recent The Wolfman remake, go through a hundred different looks for his wolves, ultimately deciding he hated snouts and went with a more flat-faced werewolf, like Teen Wolf or the aforementioned Wolfman. Hayter revealed that not only is there a sex scene, but that it will take place between werewolves who start the dirty business as humans, but finish as full blown werewolves. Hot. This scene took three days to film.

Thanks very much Dig!

I thought the Wolfman remake had a well-designed werewolf, but Hayter's still off-his-rocker for hating snouts. Why wouldn't a wolf/human creature have at least a small snout? Without the snout, the werewolf looks more were than wolf.

Hayter revealed that not only is there a sex scene, but that it will take place between werewolves who start the dirty business as humans, but finish as full blown werewolves.

I know it sounds pervy, but I'm looking forward to seeing that! That's certainly one way to spice up love-making...

Oh, and a second article has popped up:

Re: Wolves

I'm definitely pro-muzzle. I don't see the point much otherwise, I mean how's a werewolf to take a decent bite and do some real damage without one? wink I mean, sure, you could go all WolfMan and just toss limbs all over the place, get in the occasional intense hickie, drool A LOT over teeth that don't fit in your wee mouth... but... I say bring on the snapping and crunching of bones, the bloody snouts in the viscera, the...

o.O I am so weird.

Re: Wolves

Actually, the love scene has been done before - in The Howling I.

And, you have a point, Montana. I think if werewolves (the movie kind) had decent orthodontists, they'd be half-way pleasant people to be around. "I know your mouth hurts but you don't have to bite my head off!"

Re: Wolves

I heard in a podcast that Wolves has a Twilight-esque look and feel; please tell this isn’t true.

Actually everything I read about it reminded me of Skinwalkers (two feuding packs, one bloodthirsty, one not) in an isolated woodsy town with a young werewolf's life hanging in the balance).

Re: Wolves

Thanks Dig! As always, you're one step ahead of the rest of us!
I went ahead and rented the film, and my verdict is...mediocre, alas. The cinematography looks good and disguises the limited budget but can't obscure the dull, obvious storyline. The cast is fine, but the good werewolves vs. bad werewolves stuff is a yawn. As for the werewolves, the snoutless Skinwalkers-rip-off designs look fine onscreen...but don't look threatening or monstrous, and when the werewolves start talking the effect is comical. No decent transformation scenes either. The hyped transformation sex scene is a bust--the film cuts away right when things get interesting.
Not $3.99 rental in my opinion, but yours might differ.

Re: Wolves

My problem with these films (like Skinwalkers) is the "furry-superhero" stereotype that has been as harmful as the Twilight franchise. I still prefer our classical werewolf as one horror icon, the man doomed to become a beast, overcome with pain, fear and remorse. Where are those films now? And God, I prefer not to talk about the tv series with werewolves... seriously sad.

Re: Wolves

Weird movie. Clearly not a passion project, and created for the teen/young adult market. But the characters are mostly pulled from the 70s. Cowboy hats with leather vests are not part of the zeitgeist these days.

Re: Wolves

I found something interesting, in regards to the movie. (I watched it, will give my thoughts later, though it reminded me of Skinwalkers ALOT)

http://www.kinopoisk.ru/picture/2467077/ This is a screencap from the movie, but that shot isn't in the film at all. It seems to me that there's an extended cut of the film out there somewhere with an extended sex scene.

Re: Wolves

Nice find NightSlash, there is probably a unrated cut in foreign territories and Bluray in the states may have it.

Re: Wolves

Available again on Video on Demand. Is this an R Version?
If anyone see's it can confirm its an extended version - (not really a spoiler, director said this scene took 3 days to shoot) you'll know its extended if the camera stays on subjects or wipes to a barn wall and then daylight.

I watched it and no, this is the same exact cut I watched last month. I'm starting to wonder if the studio that picked this up for distribution made them trim it down or something. Either that or they cut it due to negative test screening reactions, which I really hope isn't the case because test screening audiences should NEVER be used to decide the quality of a movie.

Re: Wolves

When the red band trailer was released, I thought perhaps we would get a different version that was released the first go round when
Google Play and AC Media had it the week of 8/30. There may be an unrated Bluray but I gotta wonder if just extending one sex scene will really make that much difference. Still have Late Phases to look forward to....

Re: Wolves

DVD has been released and iTunes has two deleted (not sure) if that is on DVD as well.
Wondering if we get the extended sex scene that the director spoke about at comic con.
Please respond if you see it.

Re: Wolves

I bought the DVD which said it had deleted scenes and a bts featurette. It had NO special features at all. However, apparently Canada got an extended Blu Ray cut that leaked online, which does have the extended sex scene. Nothing to cry home about, there's some brief added nudity and shots of them in wolf form including the cap I linked here. The extended cut has little new bits scattered throughout, slightly different editing in a couple scenes, and an entirely different music score. But like I said, apparently only Canada got that blu ray and it's already out of print.
