Got the new copy. I honestly have mixed feelings on the art. The story itself isn't too bad but I know, even my writing, for instance never hurts to have decent art backing it.
I'll get the 5th issue so I see how it ends but, if Alias can afford to continue this series, I won't get anything new unless the squelch on a better penciler.
I hear you, but the art does improve through the series. The artist has really grown from issue #2 on up.
I'm sure Alias can continue with the series... each issue so far has been a top 300 book.
This is not just hyperboyle because I work on the project... stick with the series and especially jump on board with volume 2. You will NOT be disappointed with the story or the art!!!!!!

I like the story and the way the art's going but as for the dialog, is there any reason why these people speak with such grammatical precision? It makes the dialog sound sorta stilted (but not terribly)......
There have been some very popular comics (by Marvel, for instance) with dialog much, much worse than this so it certainly wouldn't prevent me from buying the comic.
Yup, blame me... it was my realistic dialogue I wrote for issues 1 and 2 that lead to the stiff dialogue within #3 and #4 (by another scripter... he was probably just following orders, so it's all good)... but I did the dialogue for #5 so we'll see if that is printed as I wrote it or if they felt changes were needed. We're all friends here- keep on giving your honest opinions on the series, good, bad, or ugly. Those honest opinions help keep us on track! Doh! I gotta get that to you! Soon... so much to do, so little time in each day. But we are ahead of schedule, so that is what matters!

Got the #5 issue!
Well, it's ok but I'm kind of disappointed since it's so full of talk and there's no werewolf in action at all! Only the covers has the werewolves, one on the front cover and two on the back cover. Yet, the art got better thanks to Alex Borges, Jackson Gebien and Nelson P.M.
I sure hope that the #6 issue will make up for that since it promises a fight between Furius (Josh) and the other werewolf (Frank).

I'm happy. I was just being picky for your entertainment.
When I used to write (it's been a while), I would read my dialog aloud and if it didn't sound natural, I'd work on it, but it's hard (at least for me) to tell if dialog sounds okay "on the fly" (without reading it aloud).
On the other hand, Burroughs was about as stilted as you could get (I hated his dialog) but there are an awful lot of people who have loved his work down through the years.

Yah, it was already drawn when I got to it (as scripter I just get to add dialogue, not tell what's going on). As full writer of the second series I made sure to include werewolf goodness in EACH issue!
I haven't even seen anything that happens in #6 of the current series yet, so from the cover I hope it delivers the werewolf on werewolf action the cover promises!!!

Hey, it was an honest opinion and one I voiced myself many times. But yes, that's how I work my dialogue, too. After typing everything I print it out and read the spoken parts aloud. Anything that doesn't seem natural, anything that's forced, or anything that's too hard to say naturally in the moment is edited.

Lethal is such a great series because it combines so many different themes and genres, which is something I've always been attracted to and runs through each project I work on. For Lethal in particular the main two elements are a major mix- werewolves and law enforcement. Many great stories can be (and have been) told with either part, but what makes Lethal special is the combination. Now on one hand it could be something silly (like that Full Eclipse made for TV movie back in the early 90's), or it could be a recipie for great fiction especially when you mine what makes werewolves great and what makes law enforcement interesting.
So you have the real world and you have the supernatural, but with Blackstone City there's a third element: Superheroes. In Blackstone I see superheroes almost like Astro City- they're around, but there aren't that many. So average people know they exist and are around and seem jaded, but sightings are rare to when it does happen you stand and watch with your mouth open.
So the second Lethal series is a delicate juggling act of werewolf action, realistic police work, and a superpowered being (though this particular one leans more towards the supernatural... but going into the details would be telling too much).
The planned third arch pushes this idea/triad to another level- more romance is introduced and a lot more action and powers.

Great. It sounds so cool and I always liked the Astro City stories.

lol... surprisingly I actually got a copy of #5 the day they said it would come out. I was stunned! The particular store I got it from actually had multiple copies!!! I'm also impressed! I hope issue #6 gets the same push and also the collected trade version.

I'm wondering if there was a problem with issue #4, since mine came so late and you never got yours, strange, huh?

There was some problem with #4 on some level, but Rom really pushed for more promotion and issues with #5 and looks like it worked.

No official talks yet, but I know Alias is VERY fond of their collected editions so I'm sure one will be coming soon.

Well, you've seen most of Lethal Instinct volume 1 and we've hinted about volume 2. Rom and I are hammering out details for volumes 3 and beyond. Volume 3's synopsis has to be approved and I'll start on those scripts. I have the rough ideas for volumes 4 and 5 and a few ideas on 6 through 12. So if things work out you will be seeing Lethal Instinct goodness for a long time to come.
While we're putting things together we are making these for you guys... so anything you'd like to see happen in Lethal Instinct? I'd like to expose what we have in the works but it would be hard figuring where the teasing would end and the spoilers begin.

12 volumes of Lethal Instinct ??? Jeepers! Are you planning that long?

Well..I would see a story how the other cops would deal with a werewolf being one of them. I'm sure that would cause some tension along them because some would feel threatened.
On a lighter note, you can have them dealing with the problem of how to put a police uniform on a werewolf without having it getting torn everytime one goes through a transformation.
