e...

Okay, that's a pain in the butt. big_smile

Black Shuck - deserts are cool big_smile Seen the most amazing sunsets out in those wide open spaces. smile I lived in the middle of Australia for a bit, and while it did get stinking hot, it was dry heat, the nights were cool and the views were beautiful. smile

But a pine/fir/spruce forest will always be my favorite place! big_smile  (with a mountain slap bang in the middle of it, of course)

Re: WolfMontana's Forum

I was gonna go to Australia, but went to the Mediterranean instead (I figured Australia was a lot like where I live, just with different accents and a little different customs). I'd like to go there though. How long were you Australia? Sounds like it'd be fun!

I think they sell cactus in City Market down here! Fiesta time! big_smile

Re: WolfMontana's Forum

Australia's pretty diverse, country wise smile You have a very dry middle and west, rainforest up north and east, snowy mountains (if you can call them mountains - the biggest one, Mt. Kosiosko looks like a scoop of icecream) south eastish, blue mountains out west of Sydney. And Tasmania in some piccies almost looks like photos I've seen of New Zealand and even Montana. Never been there though, would love to go.

I've been to the opal mining towns of Coober Pedy, and used to visit a little place called Andamooka alot that was not too far from the town where I lived. That was cool. You could be walking along the dirt road and pick up a big chunk of quartz and find a vein of opal in it. smile  Nothing with too much fire though. My bro still has jars of the stuff in water back home. (it lights up better wet)

They really do live underground in Coober Pedy, because it is cooler under the earth. smile It's a sight to see!

I walked over Uluru and signed the book at the top back when it was still Ayers Rock. Course if I was a native there now I wouldn't be too happy about people tramping all over a sacred site. It's an astounding place.

The land is older in Australia, more worn. You can see the difference between the blue mountains and say Glacier National Park in Montana big_smile It's fascinating.

And Australia has some of the best beaches anywhere. wink

I did highschool and uni there and worked a bit, before I came back to Montana smile  so a long time. wink

Re: WolfMontana's Forum

Those are cool stories! I've heard of Coober Pedy on the Travel Channel. That would be way neat to see! It fascinates me how other countries can look like places here. Like Petra/Moab looks like the Moab here and part of Spain looks like outside Moab.
