Actually, the only people who were actually practicing witchcraft (Wicca isn't that old) are among those that survived the debacle. The people who were actually killed were probably good, God-fearing Christians (well, at least two were guilty of adultery, but they weren't apt to execute people for that back then (too many judges and other legal people were also guilty)).
