Yesterday night when we were walking around Washington D.C. I saw the moon but not very well cause it was cloudy. I started howling at it and some of my classmates looked at me funny and started laughing!

It looks full for about 5 days. The full moon looked awesome the other night, very big, very full and very pretty.
This full moon was aligned with it's orbital perigee, that is the moon's closest point to Earth. However, just like with a lunar or solar eclipse, it is a matter of proper alignment. By the same token when the moon is full at apogee, the furthest point from Earth, it looks smaller than usual.
I was amazed at how bright it looked the other night. For the first time I actually had to cup my hand to blot out a little of the moonlight. I had never seen the moon so bright and I suspect it may be a while before I see it like that again.
