Heart Notes

I close my eyes against the pain

The sweet sound of falling rain

Is all I hear in my dreams

A soft pulse a steady beat

A kind love a burning heat

Heart breaking notes wash over me

The music makes  me feel

And tears start to spill

Spill over in a flood of gratitude

I'm never felt love of this magnitude

Ice melts from my veins and I feel the pain

But under it all is the hope

Hope of new love and second chances

Of spring days and fall dances

Of summer romance and winter nights

This is my fire of life.

Dedicated to clinteastwood95 for breaking my writers block. Thanks buddy!

Re: Heart Notes

Nice work Fen! I'm glad to see the blocks gone, and glad to see the poet is still there!

I can't say I know the 'in depth' stuff about poetry, but as a general reader of this, I did enjoy it a lot. I like how you've used that slight repetition in a few bits, the;

Using 'spill' and 'hope' within the last line and first line of those I thought was really effective.
I felt like "awww'ing" after reading this. I don't know why...I just did.

So was there anything in particular that inspired you to write this?
Glad to see the writers block has gone, keep it up Fen! smile

Re: Heart Notes

Well the inspiration comes from a few certain songs I've been listing to today. The kind that bring tears to your eyes.

Generally I don't like repetition but I personally thought it fit this poem.

Thanks Grim!

Re: Heart Notes

One thing I'm proud to say is that each of my poems carries a different emotion some good some bad but the key to it is that they each give a different meaning to each person that reads them.

Thank you for the complement Bluemoon. smile
