I agree. Based on what I've seen so far, the cast may be the one thing in its favor (a few have appeared in some well done sci-fi based shows) Also, I understand that the creator of the British show is a consultant on the US version and one of the producers is also serving as one for this show. Encouraging news that hopefully will help the US show, but I'm still going to take a wait-and-see approach until the show's debut.

In truth, the British are trying to ape the Americans, but they are similar to the Etruscans who helped grow the Roman civilization, and then were subjected by the latter because they had become stronger.

Yeah thanks for the link. From what I saw, there's elements not just from the first episode of the British series, but also some parts from the rare pilot episode as well. The first segment alone, aside from a few variations, is straight from the pilot.
The cast is OK and it does have potential.
The way I'm looking at it, it's not going to beat the original version, and I don't want it to be. I wanted to see if it was worth watching as a series on its own, and based on that, I'll give it a shot and see where they go from here. Whether or not I'll like the series overall depends on what they do on their own and not using the original stories from the British version. But so far, it's off to a fair start. Didn't blow me away, though.

Well I have to say, I'm not too impressed.  It seems like typical American fare - and considering the UK version was new and unique, the American version feels derivative and lacks substance.  The music is bland, the characters have motivation on page, but it seems the actors and the director didn't know what to do with it.  The pacing is horrible and maybe worse yet, none of the characters in the span of that episode, did anything to allow the audience to like them.  They want to 'be human', yeah?  It isn't going to work if we can't believe they really were human to begin with.

Hmm. Watched it. Some elements I like, overall a little emotionally flat compared to the British show. I like this Aidan more than the vampire from the british series, but not as much as the very first vampire from the very first pilot

The end scene is not nearly as dramatic as the same scene from the original pilot. This ghost is a little more handicapped in that she can't manipulate/hold anything it seems (yet), so the one way conversation lost a little in it's gut twisting capability I don't like this actress (yet) as much as the two british versions. I also really miss the 'making cups of tea and leaving them all over the house' thing ALOT. They could have done coffee! But I guess they want to develop her ability to hold things over time perhaps?

As for the transformation, I actually really liked the side view with the elongating muzzle. Nice work. Front view, meh, but I did like the far view where you can see very wolfy legs and a tail forming - nice! Even if it was really far away. I like the actor too, although I will always prefer the brit dude

Despite my gnashing of teeth, I'll probably watch it. Damnit.

Just stumbled across this, but if you have BBC America, they're replaying both seasons of the show this weekend. Today, they played the first season (six episodes). Thursday and Friday, they're re-airing the eight episode second season with 4 hours each day (2-6pm ET and again from 12am -4am ET).

The big deal comes Saturday,  when they're airing both seasons together, all 14 episodes back-to-back, from 6am to 8pm ET, leading up to the third season premiere at 9pm ET.

So much suspense and cliffhanger crammed into one episode this week... it was bloody amazing. The whole plot line they've been building with Mitchell trying to hide his slaughter of the box tunnel 20 is finally coming to the fore. Everyone watch it!
